Disclaimer: I own nothing except Tommy and Chris.
A/N: Hey there. This is my first Queer as Folk fic (I've written a Sea Patrol x QAF crossover entitled, 'Brian Down Under', but that's just not the same) and it's been a while since I've watched QAF, so I apologize for anything that seems out of character.
"Mum?"
Lindsay Peterson looked up from the newspaper she was reading. "Yes Gus?"
Her son came walking to the table and sat down on a chair opposite his mother. "Tommy's parents are getting a di-works."
"A divorce?"
"Yeah, that. Tommy's dad has a new girlfriend." Gus thought about it for a moment. "Is that the reason why you and Brian got a divorce, too? 'Cause you liked Mel more than Brian?"
"Well, not quite... First, you can only get a divorce if you're married, which Brian and I weren't."
"So you can have kids if you aren't married?"
"Sure."
"Okay, then I'll tell Chris to stop telling people bullsh... nonsense. He said you have to get married if you wanna have kids. So anyway, why doesn't Brian live with us?"
Lindsay folded her newspaper and put it away. Advanced parenting: How to tell your six-year-old kid that his dad is gay. "Because he likes boys better than girls."
Gus shrugged his shoulders like only a six-year-old could. "So what? I like boys better, too. Girls are stupid."
"Hey, what about Mel and me?" Lindsay protested. "We're girls, too!"
"You're mums," Gus replied with a serious look on his face. "That's different."
Alright, seems like I have to explain this another way. "I was trying to say Brian likes to kiss boys."
"Kiss? Ewww!"
I'll remind him of that if I ever walk in on him and his first girlfriend... or boyfriend. "Yeah, kiss. Most men like to kiss women, but some- like Brian- prefer kissing other men."
"And some women like to kiss-" (Gus mad a 'yuck' face)- "other women?
"Exactly."
"Oh. Okay." There was a pause. "But two men or two women can't make a baby together, can they?"
"No, you need a man and a woman for that."
"Thought so." Gus jumped up from his chair and walked to the door. There, he turned back to his mother as if he'd suddenly remembered something. "How exactly do you make a baby?"
A/N: And that's one of those questions most parents definitely don't look forward to... Reviews are great :)
