I wrote this fanfic a while back, and it's set during season 2, when Addie and Derek are still together. My first published GA fanfic, :) Please R&R!

I didn't know what I was thinking.

Clearly, I wasn't in my right mind.

The trees were flying past, flickering through my eyes.

This was ridiculous.

"Derek!" I shouted, obviously calm wasn't good enough. "Derek, what are you doing? You're driving way too fast."

"Trust me, Addie. If we wanna make it to this conference, we've got to quicken the pace. Speed up the trip."

"Well if you would've let me drive, we'd get there quicker...without the excessive rate-"

He grunted in his usual tone.

"I'm sure if we were half an hour late for a medical conference, it would hardly be a sin."

"Just like adultery isn't considered a sin?"

"Oh come on..."

"Relax Addison. It was a joke. Merely a laugh that two civil people share with one another."

"Of course." This was so typical Derek. His classic attitude, and predictable patience tolerance.

Sirens began sounding in the distance and a police car soon became visible in the rear view mirror.

"Now look, Derek. I told you I should have drove."

"Addie, for God's sake just take a breather. Chill. I've got this one."

"Mmm..." I couldn't help but mutter under my breath. Here we go again. Derek was going to charm the police with his lovable ways.

"Officer," he greeted as the sergeant made his way to the driver's window. "Lovely day, isn't it?"

"Sir," he began, evidently not for small talk. "Did you realize you were speeding?"

"Really?" Derek flashed his distinctive smile. "I wouldn't have guessed."

"License and registration number please." The tone depicted in his voice was stereotypical. If only he had let me drive. Derek handed over the cards, showing no sign at all of anger.

"Derek Shepherd," he sounded surprised now. "As in Doctor Derek Shepherd? Neurosurgeon of Seattle Grace Hospital?" Der put on his most modest expression.

"Yes," he nodded. "Yes, that's me."

"Oh Doctor Shepherd...you're a real hero. The work you've done to society is just...it's unbelievable."

"Why, thank-you." His fake modesty even made me smirk. Derek was loving this. Every single word.

"Listen, I'm sorry for all this fuss. I'm going to let you off with a warning."

"A warning?" My voice perked up.

"Yes ma'am, a warning. You don't come across too many people like this, and when you do...well...you do what you can to help them." He tapped the roof of the car and smiled. "Enjoy the rest of your day."

The fanatic sergeant returned to his vehicle promptly, before continuing back onto the highway.

"He let you off with a warning." My hand flew up in the air. "If that was me..."

"But you wouldn't be driving at an excessive rate, would you now?"

"Oh ha ha," I laughed. He kissed my cheek softly before we returned back to the road, on our way to the conference.
