Title: Christmas at the Cabin Chapter 1/?
Author: Lady Taevyn
Rating: G
Summary: Jack decides to make sure Danny has another good Christmas.
A/N: This idea came to me after getting Dana Jeanne's card. That drabble got my Muse back in shape. So my utmost thanks and appreciation goes to Dana. This sort of follows my 'Christmas Wish' fic. So you may want to brush up on that, to know what's going on. This is technically the next year.
Jack was waiting in the truck at 12:15 pm, for school to let out. He wanted to get as early a start as possible. It was the last day of classes before 'winter break'. He hadn't told the boys where they were going, just that they were spending the holidays away. This was their first Christmas as a 'family'; the adoption had finally gone through just in time for Danny's birthday over the summer, and Jack intended to make it a good one.
"Well hurry up guys, we've got a long way to go, and I want it to still be light out when we get there." He called out to Charlie and Daniel as they ambled across the parking lot. At his words Charlie's eyes lit up, he knew where they were going now.
"We're going to the cabin for Christmas dad? That's awesome! Daniel you're going to love it. There are all kinds of animals, and the snow gets taller then me, if it's a bad snow storm." Jack could tell Charlie's good spirit was catching up to Daniel as he smiled wider with the description of all the animals.
"Yes we are going to the cabin, and if you don't get a move on Sam, Janet and Cassie are going to beat us, and they aren't leaving till tomorrow." Hearing this, the boys moved a little quicker.
They had stopped for dinner and to pick up supplies in the small town that was about 20 minutes away from the cabin. That was the ritual every time they went; it was how Charlie knew they were getting close. A lot of work would need to be done once they got there, Jack outlined their individual tasks as they ate, and neither boy seemed to mind.
It wasn't nearly as bad as Jack thought it was going to be, and about an hour after they got there it was clean and livable. As the fire place roared Jack glanced out the window and noticed the snow falling. The meteorologists had said it might snow a little over night, but it wasn't expected to accumulate to more then a few inches. Sipping on hot chocolate Jack was secure in the knowledge that this was going to be a great Christmas.
