Disclaimer: I don't own Bleach or SG: SG-1

A/N: I suppose this was inspired by the fact that Daniel has an uncanny resemblance to a certain somebody in Bleach. This is set in the canon SG-1 universe, but it's quite AU for Bleach (you'll see why).

No Rest for the Wicked

She liked to watch them work.

None of them could see her of course, but that only made it all the better. It was nice that she was able to watch Him and his teammates try their hardest in defending the Earth. He was amazing like that. He always had been.

She saw how His new identity perfectly reflected His old one—just as dedicated and intelligent as He had been before His reincarnation. Even now, she could feel her cheeks warm and her heart flutter just by looking at Him. He looked almost exactly the same.

Even if His eyes were perhaps a little bit warmer.

Sometimes sitting and watching wasn't enough for her though, and she would feel the terrible ache of longing stir deep within her. Willing, wishing that He would just die so that He could be with her again.

But she knew that that was never going to happen so long as Urahara-san and Soul Society had any say in the matter. Because the moment he died, all of the memories of who he used to be—who He really was—would come back and he would be 'dangerous' again.

Her hopes had been lifted when she saw how often He had come close to death. It was as if some small, primal part of Him knew just how powerful he would become upon his demise.

But Yoruichi-san had seen it too, and had contacted one of those beings that would never really die (Ancients or something), making sure that the woman would convince him to 'ascend' so that He would never really die. Because if his soul didn't pass into the Afterlife his memories would never return, and Urahara-san and Yoruichi-san and Soul Society all knew that even Hell couldn't hold somebody as powerful as Him.

So there she sat when she was off duty, watching Him and knowing that so long as He was alive He would always be dead as her mentor. Her obsession. Her betrayer. But still she watched, still she hoped.

As he stepped through the Stargate, Daniel Jackson was sure that somebody was staring at him. He glanced around, but found nothing out of the ordinary. He dismissed the feeling as his own overactive imagination.

Hidden in the shadows, unseen, Hinamori Momo cried silently as she continued to watch him. She said only one, simple statement filled with longing and despair, something that only she herself could hear—a lone Shinigami in the midst of the living.

Another tear slipped down her cheek.

"Aizen-taichou…"

A/N: A bit of a more in-depth explanation:

It is my understanding that when a Shinigami is killed, he or she doesn't die—he/she just gets sent back to 'life' without any memories of their past life as a Shinigami. It's a never-ending cycle of death and rebirth that applies to both the living world and Soul Society. In this continuity, Aizen betrayed the Gotei 13 a good 40 years earlier than in the canon timeline, and he was obviously caught and executed. He then reincarnated into Daniel Jackson. However, due to how powerful Aizen was, is Daniel were to die all of his memories of being Aizen would come back and he would once again be a threat to Soul Society. So Soul Society makes a deal with Oma and she promises to 'ascend' him, because when one ascends, one is still alive. Problem solved for Soul Society.

I dunno, the whole idea of Daniel having been a manipulative jerk in a past life amuses me greatly. The irony…it buuuurns. XD
