The Wish

"If you could wish for anything at all, cat, what would it be?" Alice asked him, quite randomly.
Perhaps, he'd wish for a decent meal to fill his belly or an end to Wonderland's troubles. Perhaps, he'd wish to be less mangy (stress didn't suit him).
But he looked at the human girl, who clutched the knife in her hand with a death vise, blood staining her apron, dark hair hanging around her would-be pretty face (if she smiled), and he knew what he'd wish for.
"I'd wish to be human."
"Well, that's a rather silly thing to wish for."
