Halt has sharp features- and a strong, square jaw, prominent cheekbones, and smaller deep brown (amost black) eyes, that are close to his eyebrows. He has lines around his eyes from frowning and squinting against the 's a lopsided scar over the bridge of his nose (which is a little crooked and looks like it's been broken at least once), and another series of small scars on one cheek that look sort of like scratch marks, from where the fletching of the arrows sliced against his cheek- back when he had to line up his bow against the side of his face as an apprentice. He has calloused hands, and surprisingly slender fingers.

Halt is on the shorter side, wiry and lean with strong shoulders and arms. There are a few circular scars under his chin, like someone had held a dagger or a knife to his throat. His beard is short and uneven, and his hair is uneven as well. It's tousled and messy most of the time. It's also not entirely gray, even though Gilan says it is (it's mostly dark brown). There are more scars on his legs from when Ferris tried to kill him. He smells like pine smoke, strong coffee and leather.

He has a deep, soft voice, (unless angry) with traces of a Hibernian accent; softer vowels and the occasional hard consonant. The accent becomes more pronounced when he gets angry or irritated.

Halt has a variety of facial expressions, but he usually just looks grim and foreboding. Occasionally he'll smile, usually one of the smiles listed below:

1. The This-Is-A-Bad-Idea-We-Might-Die smile. This is a tight, close-lipped smile, and never reaches his eyes.

2. The You're-Going-To-Die smile. Imagine a wolf about to tear your heart out, and that's what it looks like.

3. The Will-Or-Horace-Is-An-Idiot smile. He looks like someone told him a bad joke. Usually accompanied by a shake of his head, a raised eyebrow and/or a sarcastic comment.

4. The Actual-Real-Happy smile. This smile has taken many a life (basically viewers of this smile have died of shock. Halt, happy? Never!(viewer discretion is advised) ... I'm being sarcastic. No one's died. Halt, stop glaring at me.). When Halt is happy, he relaxes and his eyes crinkle up at the edges. The smile, surprisingly enough looks like a lopsided, almost boyish grin, and you can see his front teeth are turned in from where he was (probably) bonked in the mouth with someone's fist. Knowing what we know about Halt, that someone is either incapacitated for life or dead.

And this concludes my extensively detailed physical assessment of one Halt O'Carrick.
