Autumn was said to be the most colorful season of the year. When all the leaf trees are turning from green to yellow or red, and the sun rises so late that a mere human can observe it from his window after he woke up to go to work.
For some people though, fall was a sad season. It was cold, and sometimes it rained for weeks in a row. The sun, even if it was giving light, wasn't warming you up anymore. And let's not forget about the wind that only made it colder.
What if two people with different views on Autumn met? What if they became close friends? Could the one with more positive thought on the time of the year convince the other that autumn isn't the worst season of the year? Or will the other not listen to the first arguments, because it rained as hell in the last two weeks, causing the leaves to fall earlier than usual?
Whatever their opinions was, it was not the only thing that they could fight about. Shizuo Heiwajima and Izaya Orihara were different as day and night, summer and winter, heaven and hell.
Yet... now both of them were sitting under a cover, cuddling to each other and admiring the fire in the fireplace far away from Tokyo. The rain was falling and the wind blowing outside of the little house that they borrowed for a weekend.
However, none of them were disturbed by the sound of raindrops falling on the roof and window. The burning tree in the fireplace and beating of their hearts did well to isolate all the sounds around them.
Without even asking about it, the tall blonde lied his right palm of the left arm on Izaya's chest, precisely where his heart was. The raven haired man would normally be uncomfortable with such action, but by now he was used to the blonde's unpredictable actions.
"Your heart... is beating." whispered the man with mocha colored eyes and looked amusingly at his lover.
"That's great isn't it? Otherwise I won't be alive." said Izaya, and a little smirk of self confidence was creeping upon his face.
"Yeah. Indeed." said the blonde sleepily and in less than ten minutes he fell asleep his lover's heartbeat lulling him to a peaceful dreamland.
(A/N: Following the tradition of posting Durarara fics every 4th of the month since August, here you go. I needed to write a oneshot. And to state my thoughts about this season of the year. Sorry that it's short and confusing. I don't have time to write/update fics now. Maybe in the beginning of November... Feedback is loved :D )
