"Had his mitro valve gotten too thick?"

Oh God, he thinks, what are they doing now?

He glances at Addison, who looks annoyed and moved, even though she is surely trying to hide it.

"Is that what made the cadaver so sick?"

Addison gives a little laugh and looks at him as she shakes her head to say 'look at these children' and rolls her eyes. Her gray-green shiny eyes, Derek corrects himself almost instantly.

"Addison Montgomery; He met her in the summery"

Summery? The man smiles as he listens to his ex-wife singing their wedding love song, and he leans forward as his smile get bigger and bigger.

"It wasn't summery," he corrects. "I'd never use summery as a noun. I met her...in the summer, she." he keep smiling cheerfully at her, as her eyes (her gray-green shiny eyes) widene in surprise.

"Oh, summer, she – really?" she laughs, too, and glances at Derek a bit in disbelief.

God, she looks so happy...

"She was...cutting up a very dead body!"

He raises his eyes to the heavens, pretending not to feel something hearing those words again, but the truth is he is feeling something, he just don't know what yet.

"This is why I don't stay in touch." he clarifies, still with a little smile and a laugh ready to come out.

"And in her eyes I saw my life."

Derek and Addison's eyes meet, and it feels as a chain of love is suddenly uniting them. They smile, with sadness in their eyes, because it's all over now.

"I knew that she would be my wife."

True, Derek admits.

"From every day until eternity..."

Silence shrouds them, and Addison smiles useless at him; he's sure she's just very embarrassed and doesn't know what to say to break the tension. Again, she was turning on him as someone to rely on, silently inciting him to speak.

That's it, he thought in panic, I hurt her.

"Until I'd be as dead as that body...."

Then Sam, as usual, finds a way to make them all laugh, and he feels relieved. Only a bit, though, 'cause that short old song, has brought into him some old and strong feelings, and he's scared.

He meets her eyes again and finds hard to breathe.

And then, seconds later, it hits him. Finally, he totally gives up on her. He realizes she's happy now, and that she still loves him. But it doesn't matter, because she also told him – with her untroubled expression and her encouraging smile – that she's okay.

Since their divorce, Derek's biggest worry had been to know that Addison wasn't totally over him, but now he knows something else that he wouldn't expect: he isn't over her either.

He can't tell her, though, 'cause he's with Meredith now and she lives in LA and they're both satisfied with their life and jobs and friends.

His pager goes off and Derek looks down at it.

Fear fills him when he reads about Jen, and he stands up. He puts some money on the table, while Addison turns her face towards him and stops talking with Mark.

"We're still Addison and Derek." he whispers in her ear.

That, he can say to her.

Okay, there :) I think I'll write another chapter, just one, but I'm not sure of what it'll be about. Would you prefer Addison and Derek that get back together somehow or a sad chapter where they think about each other but nothing more than this happens? Or maybe, an even more sadder thing? :) Just let me know!

Amy

PS: Another thing, I think I made some mistakes with the verbs. Could you let me know so that I correct them?
