Fanfic: H2O Just Add Water: Prologue
"Guys, watch out!" One of the girls shouted as she pushed the other two aside. A lightning stroke stroked down and hit the tree next to the girls. A fire started up involuntarily under the help of the fierce wind.
"What have we done?" Zeph asked in her brittle voice as she was trying to stop the fired wind she caused.
"We can't control our powers!" Jenn cried as she was burying her hand into the sand. The moment her hands and the sand were in contact, the sand froze instantly. She had no other options but to keep pushing her hand through the frozen sand, hoping blindly that she would stop freezing the sand.
"I thought we were going to be safe," Mat murmured, "I've checked the journal and it says it would be fine here!" She ran to the girls despite the lightning were mercilessly striking down. She pulled them and dashed into the water. They swam through the secret opening under the island into the Moon Lake, as fast as their tails could bring them. The Moon Lake was still as mystical as usual but the water was now rumbling with a distorted reflection of the moon from shinning above the cave hole.
"Mat, are you sure we'll be fine here?" Jenn asked uncertainly.
"According to the journal, when the full moon rises, Moon Lake is home," Mat answered as she pulled herself out of the water. She laid herself on the dry crystal sand. This was their second full moon after that night. They had been prepared to prevent any worst-case scenario since they got their hands on the journal.
"Are you sure the journal is right though?" Zeph asked in doubt. "I mean, does it explain anything about our powers being uncontrollable?"
"No…but it does say that the moon has some effects on us…"Mat replied.
"We should've listened to Lewis,"Jenn sighed, "He knows everything about these things."
None of the girls said anything but gazed at the moon and hoped that the night could end quickly…
