Shalimar opened the door and saw into the darkened room. Her eyes flashed yellow as she walked into it. This was one of the reasons she liked being a feral; she could easily see through the darkness. That was probably why she had never feared it, but she completely understood why Emma, and many others, disliked it. She couldn't imagine not being able to see anything.
Shal moved around silently; another positive thing about her abilities. She could move around like a cat hunting its prey and no one would be able to hear her.
She stopped in front of a bed, looking down at the person lying there.
At first she didn't know why her feet had led her here, but when she looked at this person sleeping peacefully, she understood perfectly well why. This was the only person who could make her feel good whenever she was sad or hurt. The only person who could give her peace and calmness, even if only for a little while. It was the only person she had truly ever loved with all of her existence, the one person she would do absolutely everything for. This person was her life; her reason for living and her reason for fighting. This person was the one thing that made her stand up in the morning. Knowing that this person would be there; greeting her, supporting her and standing by her side.
She smiled to the darkness. If anyone ever found out why she couldn't sleep at night, or why she kept coming here to this room secretly watching, wanting; it would tear the team apart and she knew it. Nobody could ever find out the reason why and she could only dream about how it could be; how it should be… It would never work and it burned her from the inside out; knowing that this was all it could ever be, watching in the dark and secretly wanting what could never truly be hers. But if that was all she could get, she would take it. To have this little was better than not having anything and that's why she kept coming back; to secretly watch her only true love…
