It was a breezy mild day in the Big Harbour, and the Dispatcher had some exciting news for the tugs.
"We are going to have a race today!" He announced.
The other tugs were very excited to hear this. They loved racing each other in the Big Harbour.
"One other thing we'll have someone special join us."
"Who?" asked the tugs.
"Why Leland, of course!" The Dispatcher chuckled.
Of course this surprised the tugs.
"But he's a barge!" Hank pointed out. "He wouldn't find it very fair that he can't move very fast."
"Well, how about you choose which one of you shall pull him throughout the race?" The Dispatcher suggested.
Everyone thought it was a good idea.
Only, when they discussed it later, no one could decide who should pull him!
"I'll do it, as I'm so strong and fast!" Boasted George "He'll be bound to win!"
"No I'll do it!" Foduck countered. "I'll ensure he gets there safely!"
All the tugs argued in a similar fashion. No one would agree who should pull Leland to the finish line in the race.
But Hank cut in with a thought.
"Well, why should any of us choose who pulls him? If anyone should choose who pulls him, it should be Leland!"
"I agree with Hank." Theodore said. "Maybe Leland doesn't want to worry about anything in the race- it is just for fun after all."
...
So Leland chose Hank for pulling him to the finish line. Theodore was right- Leland only wanted a bit of fun and he and Hank had a wonderful time in the race.
