MY LOVE, MY LIFE
He sighed in relief as he reached the front door of their house; these meeting seemed to get longer and more painful every day. He wondered why he even bothered to go to them. Rubbing his sore back he pushed the door open, but he didn't see her standing in the foyer waiting for him and he wondered if she even knew he was gone. Placing his cloak on the coat rack beside him he wandered into the kitchen, his stomach growling as a pleasant aroma wafted out from the door. There she was standing at the stove, humming to a muggle song that played on the radio beside her. Her long brown hair was tied back loosely with a red ribbon, keeping it out of her face as steam blew up around her from the pot in front of her. She wore muggle clothing and the only sign that she was a witch was her wand sticking out of her back pocket.
Everything in their house was muggle for it was her wish to live in a muggle home; it was how she grew up, as well as he. She told him that she wanted their children to grow up as they did in a muggle environment with some magical influence, keep their minds open to different ideas. He laughed at her at first and then grudgingly agreed, it wasn't a horrible house after all and he quite enjoyed living here with her.
He glanced at the clock on the wall above the kitchen table, seven o'clock, much earlier than last time. These meetings were becoming a daily thing and it drove him crazy. Each day he had to leave her, each day he caused her more grief and worry. He hated doing this to her more than anything, today was one of the few days she seemed all right with the fact that he had left.
His beautiful wife, how he deserved such beauty he didn't know. They had been married for a year now, but it only seemed like one week. He loved her more than anything and always would; even in school he had loved her, when they were young and foolish. Not many people could last as long as they did, especially in their circumstances. He had cursed her with the life of being married to a Death Eater, even if he had changed his ways he couldn't entirely strip that title away from them.
"Roxanne," he whispered, drawing her attention. She turned away from her cooking, her blue eyes shinning with excitement at seeing him. She smiled sweetly at him and put the spoon she was holding down and the counter beside her. He crossed the room and wrapped his arms around her, pulling her into a short sweet kiss.
"You're back," she sighed, leaning her head against his chest.
"Yes," he whispered into her hair. "I'm back." She pulled back from him and looked up into his face.
"Please don't leave me again," she said sternly, tears forming in her eyes, her pink lips trembling with a silent whimper. He cupped her cheek gently with his callused hand, leaning his forehead against her.
"Never again," he sighed. "My love, my life." He felt her tears on his fingers and he gently lifted her face to look into his eyes. Leaning down he kissed her, proving how much he loved her in such a small gesture.
"I love you Severus," she said when he pulled away. He smiled gently at her and let go of her, letting her return to her cooking. He never thought that he, Severus Bartholomew Snape, would fall in love and be loved in return, but as he looked at his wife, Roxanne, he didn't care how it was possible. All he cared about was spending the rest of his life with her.
Whew! Finally all done⦠hope it's good.
Please review, it's all I have to live for.
