Appearently, nobody likes 'Safe'. Over 100 hits yet I still don't know what people think of the chapter... *sigh* ... oh well, I came to this part in my game so I decided to write this out. Clearly, this is the FMC route since I know that the MC never met Yukiko (appearently, there is no swim team in Inaba's high school or anything like that? xD). Enjoy!

Unusual

"Oh! So young yet already so responsible, I guess you will be taking over the business?"

Yukiko's face crumbled a bit when the dark-skinned girl asked what should have been a simple question with an equally simple answer but she was saved from bothering by the girl's best friend, a pale-skinned tennis player who had black hair a bit darker than her own.

"Yuko! You shouldn't put your nose in what's not your business!"

"Right... you are right, Rio. Sorry..."

The young heiress didn't hear her apology as the two began walking back towards their school's bus, chatting along the way. The brunette who was with them had been fingering her tennis racket during the awkward moment and, for some weird reason, she felt strange to Yukiko. But there was nothing usunual about the girl, except for maybe her eyes... they were as red as blood, after all.

"Ehm, I'm sorry..." she began. "... I'm supposed to head back now. Have a safe trip back!"

With that, the short-haired black-haired girl began her track to the inn, looking over her shoulder at the brunette who had nodded before moving for the bus. For one moment, Yukiko wanted to stop her. Something in her gut told her that the girl wouldn't live for much longer. It was a horrible thought and she was disgusted by her mind for even crossing that mine and yet... the girl (she believed her name was Yuzu) was anything but normal. There was something about her that made Yukiko feel safe but also made her feel a great deal of anxiety.

Something told her that this would be the last time that she would see this girl alive.

Two years later, as she fought with her best friends Chie, Yosuke and Yu (who had quickly grown on everyone despite the short time that he was in Inaba) against the Shadows, the girl crossed Yukiko's mind again. Destroying an enemy that was weak to her Agilao, the beautiful 'ghost' girl stopped for a moment as she watched the backs of the trio quickly heading towards the next floor. Yu's back, mostly, to be precise. It was there again. That same feeling that she had when... but unlike with Yuzu, the feeling remained warm and alive (for the lack of a better word) and she wondered what that really meant...

"Yukiko, you will be left behind!" Chie chided her as Yu and Yosuke were already talking to Rise about sending them to the next floor. Her friend nodded and ran to catch up with them. She could only imagine that dwelling on the past wouldn't help the brunette now.

That was when Yukiko vowed to beat down every Shadow that crossed her path. For the sake of that girl who loved tennis so much, as well as herself and her own peace of mind.
