Inspired by the Eye Alaska song 'Walk like a Gentleman'- just had to get it out of my system- enjoy- review!

Walk like a Gentleman

Walk like a gentleman and curse like a wave
We looked so good and then you throw it away
Cause we all got problems
When it comes to the soul, who needs anyone?

But you just walk out the door and stand in silence
You know exactly what you want
but you're not sure that you can get it right
Oh you never get it right.
Cause you are living in someone's eyes

Sara could hear the sound of his breathing as she lay on her side of the bed, her body stiff and still as she tried to force sleep, but sleep was no friend. The sound of her husband's name had sounded foreign on her tongue as they had gone through the motions celebrating their short reunion.

His name, his presence, his body warmth had been replaced with another's and for that very reason all of this felt so wrong.

She pulled herself to her feet, wrapping the silk robe Greg liked on her so much around her shoulders tying it loosely at the waist stepping out onto the balcony. Attempting her best at silence she shut the door behind her, lighting up a cigarette hoping with all of her being that her husband would not wake up.

She'd promised him she'd quit smoking. She'd promised him many things. And in the end she had broken all of those promises.

With a deep breath Sara cast her eyes over the neon ocean that sprawled beneath her as she blew cigarette smoke into the air. She could almost imagine him here; leaning against the wall watching her with an impish smile.

"What are you thinking about?" His low voice murmured as his brown eyes studied her exhausted form.

"You" giving into her imagination she responded starting this conversation.

"Well I guess that's a good thing to be thinking about..." He seemed to pause, leaning towards her. And if she concentrated enough she could almost smell wisps of his cologne.

"I don't want to" Sara shook her head, taking a long drag of her cigarette.

"Then stop"

But she couldn't. She thought about the way he would have pulled her into his arms, kissing her neck, whispering in her ear. Her body shivered in response to the memory; the smallest hints of desire stirring in her mind.

"I thought you wanted to stop thinking about me" She imagined him huskily muttering into her ear.

"I'm going insane" She laughed to herself. "You're not here"

"But I could be" He teased her. "If you just admit it..."

"I don't know what you mean..." She lied keeping her eyes focused on the skies watching as planes made their way across the darkness.

"You know exactly what you want" He turned her in his arms, her breath catching her chest.

And in that moment there were only three words on her lips, as she spoke out to the emptiness and the silence surrounding her.

"I want you"

The End
