I see the look of horror in your eyes as the Biju rise towards outer space in their stone prisons. A moment before it had looked like everything would end the way you wanted it to. You'd thought there'd be a happily ever after that went the way you thought it would go. You'd thought I would've chosen to deviate from my path, that I would've forgotten everything I'd worked towards, everything I'd devoted my life to. We'd defeated the big bad, the one who was responsible for everything that had gone wrong with our lives. We'd defeated her and her offspring together, and you thought it would be Team 7 against the world again.
Let me tell you something, there was no Team 7 against the world. There was just four individuals who had been thrown together by circumstance. There was the man who was so consumed by his guilt that he'd changed himself to reflect the source of that guilt. There was the fangirl who was constantly chasing after me, and later the both of us, constantly trying to catch up so she wouldn't be left behind again. There was me, and then there was you...
This isn't about our rivalry which does and doesn't stretch across time. This is about change. Things need to change, and they won't while the Kage still live and the Biju still walk the earth, providing nine tempting targets. The Kage will just maintain the status quo, and should the Biju remain on this world, it is only a matter of time before they are sealed again.
You thought there would be a happy ending. And, there will be once the revolution is over, the old order is swept away, and something new grows in its place.
You thought there would be a happy ending. There will be. Not the one you expected though.
It will be my happy ending.
