Seven Bells at Midnight

A/N: ok, this idea has been floating around in my head for ages and ages now… and I'm just getting to it… it's a poem about Abhorsen's bells, and it's not meant to rhyme. Anyway, I hope you enjoy it!

The seven bells of an Abhorsen,

Made for binding the Dead

The seven bells of an Abhorsen,

Not made for raising the Dead

-

The first is Ranna,

Sweet Sleepbringer,

Of low and soothing sound,

Bringing silence to noise

-

The second is Mosrael,

The Waker,

Of harsh, discordant note,

Echoing noise from silence

-

The third is Kibeth,

The Walker,

Giving movement,

Or forcing the path of Death

-

The fourth is Dyrim,

The Tongue,

Giving voices back from silence

Or stilling a free voice

-

The fifth is Belgaer,

The Thinker,

Bringing the pattern of Life to Death

Or erasing that pattern

-

The sixth is Saraneth,

The Binder,

The deep sound of strength,

Shackling the Dead to the wielder's will

-

The final bell, Astarael,

The Sorrowful,

The Banisher,

Calling those who hear it to Death

-

These are the seven bells of the Abhorsen,

Made for binding the Dead

However you try to hide,

Midnight will come for you, O Dead,

In the form of Abhorsen's bells
