Disclaimer: Unfortunately, I do not own Maximum Ride. I really wish I did. Thankfully, I do not own Limited Too, and I am very glad I don't.
Claimer: Actually, I can't claim anything but the story. Yet. Oh great. Now I gave something away.
I circled the School aerially for what seemed like the hundredth time that day, looking for a way, any way at all, to get in. There were three things I couldn't believe right now.
1) I was trying to get back into the School.
2) All the others were being forcefully held inside that school.
3) I had let Nudge talk us into going to the mall.
Of course, the trip to the mall had started everything. We finally had money and of course all Nudge wanted were some new clothes. We had all been forcefully dragged into that girly hot-pink heaven, Limited Too, when a bunch of somewhat supermodelish older guys walked in, blocking off the one exit. They had started to morph before my brain had even processed the strange development, and then we were off in one of our thousands of battles for our lives.
"Scatter!" I cried. "Meet up in NatPar!" NatPar was our nickname for our most current "home", which just so happened to be a national park. I know, creative. Of course, as you might have figured out, I got out. The six others got out of the store, but they were gagged and tied up (I assumed) and carried in overly large Limited Too bags.
Coming back to the present, I still couldn't get rid of the picture of the Erasers' leader. I could have sworn it was Ari, but hadn't I already killed him, like, three times? I mean, it seriously hurt, killing him, but still! He couldn't just die! It was almost like he was hologram, mounted on the roof. The roof. That was it!
Just as I figured, there was no security on the roof. You'd think with mutant bird-kids on the loose, the Whitecoats would have at least one person up there. But I already knew that they are idiots, so there was no need to waste time ranting about that.
After landing on the roof, I quickly located an AC shaft and pried it open. As I crawled through the ducts, it all seemed too easy. I quickly spotted the Flock, crawled in, pulled them back after me, and led them out onto the roof. But of course, there was a catch.
"Ah, Max. Nice to see you again." I muttered several quite nasty unmentionable words under my breath. Jeb. He just had to keep coming and ruining my life. Even with his son buried under 6 feet of dirt, Jeb was still the same old evil Whitecoat.
"It was unfortunate we had to drag the rest of your Flock into this, but it will be nice to have them here."
Yada yada yada yada. They wanted to run tests on us, experiment on us, etcetera. Just like always. Could these whole crazy few days actually have something new? Something freaking good for once? I was really getting ticked off. Then suddenly Jeb said something that had me confused, happy and terrified all at once.
"The School doesn't want you anymore, Max."
Yeah right. Like that was ever going to happen. But still, I listened closer.
"You've never given us anything but a headache. We are never going to get you to cooperate, and we seriously would be happy if we never saw your face again. However, someone you know quite well has a serious interest in you, so we figured we'd help…get you out of the way."
Suddenly, I realized the magnitude of this whole trap. I looked up and realized I was completely surrounded, and the rest of the Flock had already been dragged off.
"I'm sorry I have to do this, Max."
But before Jeb had finished his sentence, I felt a needle prick my arm. Slowly, the whole world faded to black.
Okay everybody. This is my first serious fanfic, and I would love to get reviews. I kow I left you at a cliffy (muahahahaha), and I know you don't know anything you didn't know before. That's what Chapter 2 is for. Love ya all! Jou
