"I want to get married. Right now."
Eyes widening, the tactician spat all of her water out of her mouth in uttermost shock. Robin's head tilted to the orange-haired thief, arm held aloft with the cup of water in her hand and her jaw dropped open. "You what?"
Gaius pushed the flap of the tent aside to stroll inside the tent. His eyes flickered around for a moment, nodding to himself once he confirmed that they were alone (at least in the tent, he could hear Lissa calling out Lon'qu from outside). His boots dragged along the grassy ground, approaching the white-haired tactician. Gloved hands pressed to his hips as he cleared his throat, pushing the stick of his lollipop to the corner of his lips with his teeth.
He was serious.
"Gaius," she breathed after a moment of awkward silence. "We're in the middle of a war. In a grassy field. In a worn out tent." She settled the cup down, breathing in and out to compose herself. "And you're thinking about marriage?!"
Pulling out the sweet with a small 'pop,' the thief chuckled at her shock. "Is there something wrong with that, Bubbles?" he challenged. "I'd hardly see the things you listed as obstacles. At least I'm not bringing this up with a bunch of Grima whilst in battle." Gaius gave his candy a few licks, before suddenly flashing her the widest smirk he's given that day. "Actually, forget I mentioned this. That's not a bad idea, either. Piece of cake... Cake..."
"No, Gaius!" Her face flushed slightly, eyebrows furrowed together. If there were one of the many things that she was able to describe the male as, it would be spontaneous. Gaius was quick with his decision-making, and was the least in all of the units there to hesitate to anything in particular. No hesitation towards joining Chrom and them, towards stealing (especially stealing sweets), towards his feelings for her... Oh, Gods...
His thumbs up was anything but reassurance to Robin. Her stomach felt sick once he blurted, "It'll save time in hunting everyone down to spread the news."
"GAIUS—!"
Her voice muffled once the male pushed his lollipop into her mouth to silence her. Her face flushed an even brighter shade of red, as his body leaned in. "Love you, Bubbles..." His gloved thumb brushed along her chin in slow strokes, as all she could do was nothing but stay petrified in place. Content with her reaction, he pulled his hand away gracefully, and moved his way towards the exit. "I think Lissa's reaction would be perfect right now."
Robin's eyes widened as he left the tent, and she pulled the lollipop angrily from her lips. Her arm trembled with an urge to toss the sugary-sweet delight onto the dirt ground, but only scowled as that urge faded almost immediately and she stuck it back into her mouth to suckle on it. It tasted good... Damn...
a/n: gaius is a shit. a sweet shit. :D
