"Soul…damn it!" Maka cursed as her weapon fell to the ground laughing.

"You confused me." She yelled as she pointed to the now weeping death scythe.

"That was the point Maka, the one who got confused first takes out the trash in the rain. You made up the rules tiny tits." He said as he tried to sit up.

"It's still unfair." She whined as Soul got the trash together.

"Hey you know any other time I would gladly be the man and take out the trash. But you know as good as I that weapons can't go outside during lightning storms, something about being metal and conducting electricity. Remember the last time I tried it. Hospital chairs are not that comfy plus… I so like just got my hair done." He said giving a mock preppy girl charade at the end for his miesters benefit. Only in the safety of their apartment would Soul show her this playful side to himself.

"Fine, but you have to clean dishes." Maka ordered as he helped her carry the bags to the bottom of the apartment.

"I can only help you to the entrance young grasshopper, but I cannot go past it with you, that you must do on your own." He said in a fake Chinese sensei accent.

"Thank you master Soul I feel confident under your teachings that I too can now wield the almighty trashcans." Maka laughed joining in on her partner's immaturity. If anyone were to pass the two partners on a normal evening in public they would call them stick in the muds or workaholics. But at home they were simply Soul and Maka. No weapon, no miester, no kishin's, no nothing, just them. Even their friends never saw this side of them and that's how they liked it. A secret only they themselves could indulge in. a chance to be kids that no one could take away. Not her father not his parents and brother and not the world.

"Hey, pigtails?" Soul asked a smile on his lips.

"What Soul?" she asked as she splashed beside him out of the rain.

"Race ya back upstairs slow poke!" he laughed as he darted up the narrow steps jumping several at a time.

"No fair you got a head start!" she whined once again chasing after him. Yep they were just kids being kids. They were old enough to know better but smart enough to worry so little. Because Soul knew Maka needed to relax and Maka knew Soul needed to put his energy into something better than destroying school property with Blackstar.

"Ha-ha I win!" Soul laughed as he stuck his tongue out. Maka rolled her eyes before the two fell laughing on the couch. Saturdays were the only day's they could play.
