They looked at each other. Her eyes were full of tears. His eyes were full of tears.
The cold wind swept right in front of them, but it didn't hinder them from holding each other's hands. She was looking away, not to let her eyes tell what her heart says. He looked at her hard and, without any hesitation, hugged her.
Faye didn't hug back, instead she looked at the dark sky right above the troubled city they're currently located. Memories started to flash back right in front of her eyes, or so she thought: The night she found out that he loves her, their first night together in the Bebop… and hugged him back as tight as he hugged her.
Spike couldn't think of any reason why he should leave the woman she loves most in the world right now. But the past keeps on haunting him, from witnessing Julia's death to his revenge to Vicious. Nothing can stop him. He is invulnerable. But this woman, with no memory or whatsoever, showed his weak side. He held her tighter and emotions blurted out from the unknown depths of his heart.
"I don't know what to do without you Faye, but I have to get this over with."
"I wouldn't know what to do without you in my life Spike."
He released her from her bondage and held her by her shoulders. He looked at her and suddenly kissed her passionately.
And from nowhere, a gunshot was heard.
Spike stood still and Faye's once closed eyes suddenly opened in shock. She suddenly heard Spike's whisper fly with the wind, I love you Faye. Spike's head, out of the blue, bent down and his body rested on her small frame. Faye could feel something rushing by her hands. It was blood.
The gunman ran immediately after he shot Spike. Faye could have chased him, but having Spike in her arms stopped her.
She was dumbstruck. She could hardly believe that the only person in the world who loves her is now dead, like her memories. The tears fell down hard as she placed his cold body on the street floor. She knelt and faced the wet sky with its own big drops of rain. She was wet, and so was the dead body on the street.
"SPIKE!"
The shrill scream of his name broke her more into tears. The sky grieved with her too, with its big splash of rain drops. She suddenly caught a glimpse of Spike's gun by his belt and without second thoughts, reached for it. The nozzle faced her and her right pointing finger touched the trigger. Tears fell down more and harder from her dark eyes. A few seconds later, she pulled the trigger.
They can be together in peace, at last.
