He had lost track of time at this point.
He was up extremely late once more. Coffee was sitting next to the desk lamp. It sat there for awhile, waiting for him to take another sip.
Gyro had been working on his mechanical creations until he fell asleep lately. Tonight was no different.
Dark circles could be seen under his eyes. He didn't pay attention to whether he had bags under his eyes or not. All he knew was that he felt tired.
He wasn't going to stop, though.
Seeing him stay up this late worried Fenton. He hadn't been spending any time away from his work either. Ever since he started constantly working, he had been ignoring everyone around him, including Fenton himself.
It was like he didn't acknowledge their existence at all. If was as if everyone were ghosts that he wasn't able to see.
The Latino duck checked up on him once more. He was still working, from the look of it. He let out a small, quick sigh. He wished he could stop for a little bit instead of working like this. Slowly, he walked up to him.
Fenton put his hand on his shoulder.
"Gyrito, I think you should take a break." Fenton suggested in a soft, quiet voice. "You've been working nonstop now. Taking a break won't kill you."
"I have no time for breaks now, I'm almost done!" Gyro snapped loudly.
Fenton flinched and removed his hand from him. He backed away, ready to walk out of the room. Hearing Gyro yell like that almost broke his heart.
He just wanted to make sure Gyro was okay and that he didn't overwork himself.
"Okay, I'll let you be alone for now..." He quietly spoke, his voice cracking from wanting to cry.
Gyro realized how harsh the tone of his voice was, and he started to feel regretful. Realizing it made him want to hit himself in the face. He quickly turned the chair around to look at Fenton.
"Wait," He said, making him stop dead in his tracks. "Don't leave. I'm... I'm sorry. I didn't mean to snap at you like that."
Fenton's head lifted up to look at the tired chicken. He closed the door he was going to walk through.
Gyro gestured for him to come over.
Fenton walked back to him and he pulled him in for a hug. Fenton clung to him tightly.
He hadn't received a hug from him in almost a week now. So, because of this, he held him close and tight.
"I'm sorry I ignored you as well, Fen." He apologized. "I just- I just got so caught up in my work that I didn't even know how much time passed. I didn't mean to say anything the way I did just a moment ago."
"It's okay, bonito." He said, accepting his apology. "Come on now, let's get you to bed. You must be pretty tired now."
Without another word, Fenton picked him up from his chair. Gyro wrapped his arms and legs around him. Almost immediately he fell asleep on him.
Fenton smiled as he carried him off to bed. When he laid him down on their bed, he gave him a kiss on the forehead.
"G'night, amor." He whispered.
He tip-toed out of the room to take care of the coffee Gyro was having. He couldn't let that sit around on the desk all night.
It was nice being with him and helping him out, sure, but it was harder than he thought it would be.
Nobody said it was going to be a piece of cake, though. Nobody said it was gonna be this hard, either.
But he wouldn't trade it for the world.
