You and I
Our homelands are tearing us apart,
our duties,
making sure we never have time for each other.
Combined,
it ensures that we will never be together.
Even as the river of sorrowful tears forever flows,
it would make no difference.
We both know that must always be.
And must accept this heartbreaking fact.
But if only,
this was another time,
another place,
we would be together.
Until the ends of time,
you and I are separated by this rift.
This hole,
this bottomless pit.
But remember me,
the next time it rains,
for those rain drops are my tears.
Tears that I cried,
cried over us.
Cried the tears that you could not cry.
And from now on,
there will only be,
you,
and I.
Never us.
