Run: An X-men fan fiction

Chapter 1: Crawl

"I've tried to put the memory out of my mind for so long it seems hard to recall it, but if you wish it. It shall be;

We were eight, and the lazy, summer sun was pulsating as it began to dip into the West. The sky, an artist's canvas was stained with peach, saffron, scarlet and a blushing pink enfolded us with chalky white clouds spread across the sky.

We had spent the day picnicking in the park and were dismayed when we realised that we had to go home. My friend and I were just playing around, chasing each other through the park.

Until he bumped into me that is. He fell over backwards and started to push back on the ground as if he was trying to run away from something and the pupils in his eyes failed to exist. I walked closer and hugged him but he just started screaming. Then he stopped and my arm felt warm and awkwardly wet. I looked down to see that some kind of sword was passing through his body. That sword was my arm. It was silver and encrypted with many strange symbols I couldn't understand but I gazed at in awe twisting it in the setting sun watching the blood slide down it onto the rest of my arm. Where the blade joined with my arm veins bulged and flesh twisted. A drop of the blood fell on to my lips and I tasted it; a mixture of salt and rust. I heard the 'plib' of the scarlet tears dropping on the face of my friend and I came to my senses.

I ran. I ran and I kept running; out of the park, through my town and then past my house. I kept running for so long that I didn't realise that my arm had returned to normality. I was too scared to look and far too frightened to stop. I became a wonderer, travelling from place to place in search of some kind of sanctuary. When I was nine He took me to the asylum, I thought I was safe, but they locked me away. Made me sit in a room with no natural light and forced me to look at no one for five years. I saw nothing but heard all."

My name is Acerbus and this is my story.
