This is another fanfic, even though I haven't continued writing the other Shadow Falls one at the moment. No one's reviewed or whatever so I take it that it sucked :(

CHAPTER ONE

Katniss POV:
"Katniss! Katniss!" someone called me. I turned around, only to see my best friend, Peeta Mellark.
"Hey, I was wondering if you were ever going to come" I teased. I saw the edges of his mouth curl into a smirk.
"I would've of come earlier but..."he trailed off, staring up into the sky.
"But what...?" I asked, with panic rising into my chest. What if the Peacekeepers found out that Peeta and I met up in the woods every afternoon to catch wild turkeys? Or if they found out that we traded substances to survive? That he gave me free bread from the bakery for my family whilst I gave him a portion of whatever I caught that day? What if...
"Relax, I just forgot to bring the bread Toby (A/N: Toby is one of Peeta's older brothers, I don't remember if his brother's names were mentioned in the books or not so I'm making up a name) baked today. I had to run back to get it" he chuckled. Amusement flickered in his bright blue eyes.
"What? Were you afraid of being alone in the big woods?" he asked, his tone full of concern.
"No, why would you say that? I just thought that.. The Peacekeepers found you, and yeah..." I said lamely. Out of my peripheral vision I saw a flash of white.
Quickly, I pulled Peeta towards me and ducked down behind the nearest bush.
"What the f-" Peeta began.
"Shush, listen!" I whispered, cutting him off with a stern look. He nodded.
We listened to the peacekeepers, until they left the ground and forgot something behind.
After waiting for a moment, I sprinted towards the large black box, not checking to see if Peeta was lagging behind or not. Usually he didn't bother, but I felt his arm brush against mine he caught up.
When we reached the strange box, I saw another broad figure approach cautiously.
Shit, they came back. We're good as avoxs, I silently cursed to myself.
"What're you both doing here? You're not allowed into the woods" came a husky male voice.
"Uhhh.. Katniss, you should probably turn around now. This isn't gonna turn out pretty" Peeta whispered into my ear.
Slowly, I turned around, ready to face the invader, or my death...
Frankly, I didn't know which was worst, nor was I prepared for it...
