Well, I lied. I said nothing more for 2 weeks 'cause of exams, but I found this already typed from weeks ago, and I though my dedicated readers deserved something special--especially if you're in school. My sympathies, friend.
Anyways, the words you recognise at the very beginning and end are from the book. (The Realms of the Gods) written by Tamora Pierce, not me. But I filled in the rest, including the lovely song. Which also doesn't belong too me. Hell, I think only 5 or 10 words are actually mine. Whatever. Enjoy.

Enough
A force lifted her up and knocked her yards away. She landed on her back, the wind knocked from her lungs. Trying to fill them again, Daine felt her claws turn back into toes and fingernails. As surely as she knew her name, she was certain that there were no more shape changes left in her. Perhaps if she had not lost so much blood, or flown so hard and fast, or had kept her shapes to those of whole animals instead of using parts from many…
Daine gazed up at the Stormwing as he slowly approached her. He was severely damaged himself, bleeding, exhausted. But triumphant- a sneer curled his lips as he considered her for a moment, lying there, helpless, and out of magic.
Sound the bugle now
Play it just for me
As the seasons change
Remember how I used to be
No I can't go on
I can't even start
I've got nothing left
Just an empty heart
Daine's mind was numb, empty. She hurt all over, and just wanted to rest for a while, but she couldn't. But then, why not? She wondered. What was the point of getting up, anyways? He could finish her with a scarlet-edged golden bolt of magic at any moment, and she was defenseless…
I'm a soldier
Wounded so I must give up the fight
There's nothing more for me
Lead me away
Just make it quick, she thought, closing her eyes against the bright sunlight. Don't make me suffer anymore.
Or leave me laying here
Her mind wandered. Why hadn't he killed her yet? Or had time stopped? She wasn't sure-nor did she care. She just wanted it to be over.
Sound the bugle now
Tell them I don't care
There's not a road I know
That leads to anywhere
Without a light, I fear that I will stumble in the dark
Lay right down
Decide not to go on
Suddenly she heard a voice. Not in her ears, not in her mind, but in her heart. It spoke in Numair's voice.
Then from on high
Somewhere in the distance
There's a voice that calls
Remember who you are
My magelet. You're fighting for us, love…
If you lose yourself
Your courage soon will follow
So be strong tonight
Remember who you are
Her teacher, her friend, her love. She was fighting for him, and her country, and her freedom. It was enough.
She gasped, and coughed, found the air to roll over, and got to her hands and knees. He was coming for her.
She threw herself forward, with no grace or coordination of muscle. Grabbing the upper edge of his open wing with one hand, feeling its bite in her palm, Daine slashed forward with the claw.
Yeah
You're a soldier now
Fighting in a battle
To be free once more
Yeah, that's worth fighting for
Ozorne screamed a doomed beast's scream as the badger's talon bit into his neck, and tore.
Remember who you are
It was enough.
It's kinda sad but then hopeful, so it's all good. And it fits, I suppose. It wouldn't get out of my head, so I wrote it out. I love that song.
"Sound the Bugle Now" is a song by Brian Adams, from the animated movie 'Spirit-Stallion of the Cimarron', which you should watch. Or search it on youtube!
Did you like it? Hmm? Tell me I did not just waste time posting!
