Disclaimer: I own NOTHING. Hear me? Nothing, nada, zip, nihil. Characters, setting, and everything else belong to J. R. R. Tolkien. I'll say this though. He can keep his orcs. Nasty things. The song comes from the Quest for Camelot movie. I altered it a bit to fit, but it's still not mine. Oh, well. Maybe I'll own something tomorrow.
A/N: It's the attack of the killer one-in-the-morning muse! Run away! Run away! Ok, enough Monty Python for one night/morning. ::out of the blue:: Oh, crap! The light bulb just went out! Oh, well. Darkness is a friend. Now, on to the story.
PS: Slightly AU, based on the movie version, but not exactly like it. Ok, nothing like it. But, you get the idea. A little OOC too, I think.

A place where He'll be safe.
POV Aragorn
Right after Boromir tried to take the Ring. Aragorn has just found him hiding.
The first thing I noticed when I saw Frodo was how frightened he looked. How alone. I went to him quickly. I did not want him to be alone.
"Frodo?" I said softly. He jumped, looking around wildly.
"It's only me." I said. He looked at me with tearful eyes.
"Boromir tried to take the Ring." He said, while rising to his feet. "He wanted me to come to Gondor, and when I refused, he got angry."
I closed my eyes briefly. 'So that's what happened.' I thought. 'Boromir's lust for the Ring grew to strong.' Then Frodo spoke again.
"I know what I must do now. I must go on to Mordor. Alone."
I looked straight into his eyes when he said this. In them I saw so many things. Resolution, fear, loss...more then any person should have to have seen in there life time, least of all him.
"You don't have to do it alone." I told him, but he shook his head.
"I must. I've put enough people in danger as it is. It is my task. I must destroy the Ring. But-" he looked at me, imploring me to understand.
"I'm afraid." My heart almost broke at these words. I walked towards him, and pulled him into my arms in an embrace. I just held him, as if this could give him the strength to do what he had too.
"Go, Frodo." I whispered. "Do what you know you must." He pulled away from me, and ran. Just ran and never looked back. I think he thought that if he did, he'd never be able to leave. I watched him, praying to Elbereth that he would be safe.
~*~I pray you'll be my eyes, and watch him as he goes.
And help him to be wise- help me to let go...
Every father's(1) prayer, every child knows-
Lead him to a place, guide him to a place,
To a place where he'll be safe.
Lead him to place- guide him with your grace,
To a place where he'll be safe...~*~

I hope I didn't bore you to death with that. It was really sappy and silly, I know. Now, to that little
(1) in the song. In truth that said "mother's" but I have been intrigued with the thought of a father/son relationship ever since I read "The Son I never Had" by Deutzy. So, credit for that goes to her.
Please review. They're my lifelines, I'm telling you.
