PROLOUGE

The moonlight streamed in through the small gap in the curtains and the digital clock on the dresser read 3:30am. Kageyama didn't know why he was awake, he only felt the cold sweat drenching into his skin and the shiver that ran down his spine. He reached over to the empty space next to him. The sheets were still warm. "Shoyo?" He called out timidly. There was no answer. He pulled the covers off his legs and swung them over the edge of the bed. He stood up, cringing slightly at the cold wooden floors. He crept quietly into the hall. "Hinata where did you go?" He whispered into the darkness. There was a clattering from the kitchen followed by a small voice murmuring 'shit'. Kageyama's shoulders relaxed as he walked into the small kitchenette. His eye lit up when he saw his small oranged haired boyfriend bent over the glass of a broken cup.

"Shoyo?" He laid a timid hand on his slender shoulder. "What are you doing?" He asked softly.

Hinata jumped at the sudden voice only to relax again when he realized it was only Kageyama. "Sorry, did I wake you up? I just came to get some water but I dropped the cup." He smiled brightly up at Kageyama.

"No I woke up on my own, I had a nightmare." He smiled back, rubbing the back of his neck.

Hinata looked worried. "Do you want some tea?" He gestured towards the kettle sitting on the counter. Kageyama nodded silently and walked over the cabinet, pulling out his favorite green tea.

As Hinata busied himself making the tea Kageyama thought back to the first time he met the former spiker, way back in middle school, before any of this ever happened.
