Hello Everyone, I go by RKJ. Some of you might be my readers from my other story; Beyond the Garden(Work In Progress). Soo Um Hi...(nervous chuckle) I'm still alive! Anyways back to this story! You may be wondering why I started an entirely new story from another show/ficdom(Is that even a word?) when I haven't even finished my previous? Great question, I can't really give you all a good enough reason other than the fact I was simply I inspired to do so. In the past three days I've read some very good Fanfics and like many of you, this show has been very dear to me growing up. And at the time I was heartbroken that the show stopped after only two seasons. And after brushing up on the entire show I felt I was ready to give writing an AU based ADJL fanfiction. Fair Warning! Below is not the story, it is pure exposition. It is more or less for me to see if it could be something that I could possibly work on. So think of this chapter as numero zero, a prologue of sorts but not really. And so I'll prob get flagged for this ridiculously long AN. Anywho...Enjoy the long summary of a story that hasn't even been written yet!
Disclaimer: I do not own American Dragon: Jake Long and any of its characters.
AU: Long ago where magical creatures and humans lived together under an unstable balance. The ones who maintain upheld this balance were descendants of the now extinct supreme magical creatures: dragons. Known as Dragoons, these warriors equipped with ancestral weapons in addition to harnessing the powers inherited from their bloodline they maintained world order. However, that changed when a gifted dragoon known as Drachen was overwhelmed by a thirst for power and sought to upset this balance in an attempt to bring the magical world to rule over humans. When the odds looked grim, a rogue Dragoon managed to defeat Drachen and sealed him within his weapon. However, upon emerging as the victor over the bloody fight, the Dragoon wasn't greeted by a Hero's welcome but was greeted with treachery. On the night of celebration and merriment of Drachen's defeat, a group of human activists launched a plot and succeeded in assassinating the dragoon. This, in turn, sparked a chain of events that led the downfall of the Order of Dragoons and with them magical inhabitants were forced into hiding. The Group that kickstarted this new era, were viewed as eternal champions for humankind. Upon going into public knowledge they took up a new moniker. The Inquisition; as ruthless as before they tracked and slain any beings that were apart of the magical world and executed those who were found to harbouring them even fellow humans. As time went by the Inquisition were gradually losing public support and like the Order, they too disappeared at least for a time. That was until remnants formed a new organisation that followed the same ideals as its predecessor but their motivation more unclear and sinister.
Skipping to present time, not much is known about the magical world and few who do keep it to themselves. Of course, there are some who believed that magical creatures and tales of witches, warlocks and unicorns exist. But these few are viewed as social outcasts. As for the magical inhabitants, they no longer live in constant fear of being discovered by the Inquisitors, nestled in magical enclaves where means of entrances them could be inconspicuous hallways and abandoned warehouses. And for those that could afford it and or able to do so in disguise, live among the humans. In fact, many influential members of past and present society are active members of the magical community. Despite them being hunted in the past, and some specific members are still being actively hunted such as unicorns it is safe to say that the general populace of magical creatures has managed to survive and have managed so far to reach sustainable populations worldwide. And although the average human chance of knowing or seeing a magical are slim that doesn't mean through the course of history so far that the two haven't been closely connected in some form or way. So much in the fact, a folk saying "Where mankind can be found there are creatures that lurk in the shadow." Which shouldn't be too surprising that one of the largest and most influential magical community is within New York City? There have been whispers of one of the organisations that have can trace their lineage back to the Inquisitors of old that primarily operates within the United States; Known simply as the Huntsclan. Rumor has it that they have been searching for an ancient artifact from the era of the Inquisition. Causing an uproar and hysteria among the magic communities around the world.
