He had always stumbled through life, one step slightly less confidant than its predecessor. He hid those feelings though, a confidant grin on his lips. And while he had every single person fooled, there was just that one person…that one girl with milky eyes and a stare that could make you shiver, that knew he was faking it. She never called him out, but the knowing look she gave him tipped him off.

He hated thinking that life was all there was. He imagined it in his mind, the images growing as he grew, but then they fell a little when his father stared drinking. The confidence being a barrier. Her eyes tore through it so fast he was left dizzy, and he could only stare back for a moment. Then…he knew he had to catch her.

They'd always said opposites attract, and Yukari…well, she was everything he wasn't. He was the blue to her pink. She had a smile that could warm the iciest of hearts, and a playful way about her that was so inviting. She was pursued constantly though, and he watched how even when every guy chased her, she still only spoke to a select few.

Somehow? He'd managed to be one of them.

Before he'd met her, it felt like he just…stood within life, watching it go by. As if he'd taken a step down and rested. She was there to wake him up, smiling and bright. Even when no one else smiled, she smiled at him. There where a few days where she wouldn't smile, and he was there, joking with her till she laughed at him, or with him.

Then last year…

Then he had been thrust into a hero's position, and when he found out she was in on it, he wanted to take the leader role. He had to prove himself to her. But no, he couldn't. They all just followed his lead, his rules…and Junpei learned to deal with it. When she fell for Minato, it had hurt.

Chidori came along and then both Minato and Chidori where torn away, and Yukari cried so much that he didn't know what to do. But those tears made her look so human, not like the angel he'd set her up as in his mind. Sparkling blue tear drops, falling from her cheeks as she sobbed…

Blue, the most human color of them all, and he wore it daily to remind himself how human he was.
