Notes: written for a meme wherein I had only the length of a song to write a drabble inspired by the song.

Music: Mary Black - "There's a Train that Leaves Tonight"

He's standing in the living room as she packs her bag, wondering what he can say before she leaves. Because she will leave. He can't stop her. She's completely in control of herself, and a part of him wishes that she'll act up for once. That she'll scream and cry and beat the reasons out of him. He wants to explain so desperately, but if he could he would have already.

He looks to the doorway to the bedroom and feels the knot in his throat tighten. She's finished and steps out of the room, meeting his eyes. They're large and wet, and as soon as she sees him the veils go up once more, and he cannot read her.

He makes no move to stop her, doesn't reach out, doesn't block her path.

Her hand is on the knob. "Thank you," she says quietly and slips out of the door.
