Minato froze. Kakashi's eyes were wide with worry. Rin was twisting her hands in her smock. "Take me to her," his voice broke at last.
His students lead him through the burning, through the rushing of ninja back into the village to his wife's side. She was lying still, a small white cloth over her face. A woman sat beside her holding the small, crying babe in her hands. "She named him Naruto, Lord Hokage."
He nodded and took his son from her arms. He was perfect in every way.
A monstrous howl shook the building. He caressed the soft pink cheek. "I will always love you," he whispered before heading out of the door.
