Another Thomas rewrite, this time it's "Squeak, Rattle and Roll" from Season 8. Enjoy and comment.

Gordon is a big, blue Express engine. He's the fastest engine on Sodor, and he's proud of it.

He loves to pull the Express, because he thinks that's the most important job on Sodor.

One day, Gordon was pulling the Express out of Brendam Docks.

He noticed Diesel was on the same track Gordon was on.

"Get out of my way!" snapped Gordon. "Express coming through!"

Diesel backed up, making him very cross.

"Diesels are way better than Steamies!" oiled Diesel. "Steamies are old and worn-out! Soon, Sir Topham Hatt will realize this and have you all scrapped!"

"Scraped? I'm the fastest engine on Sodor!" mumbled Gordon as he puffed grandly away.

Gordon raced through the countryside.

He was having a wonderful day.

But then, he heard a horrible squeaking noise.

This made Gordon upset. He knew something was wrong.

"What if Diesel is right?" he thought. "What if Sir Topham Hatt scraps me?"

Gordon squeaked sadly up the hill.

But the hill was steep, and Gordon had to puff slowly.

Soon, he found out that the slower he went, the quieter the squeak became.

Gordon was delighted.

"If I go slowly, no one will hear me squeak!"

So Gordon puffed slowly back to Tidmouth Sheds.

That evening, Sir Topham Hatt came to see Gordon.

"Tomorrow is a very special day." he said. "I am taking some children on a boat-trip. You are to take us to Brendam Docks. The boat leaves at nine o'clock, so you must not be late."

The next morning, Gordon waited for everyone to go.

Then, he puffed slowly away, so that no one would hear him squeak.

Once he was out of the sheds, he raced along the track.

But soon, he began to squeak again!

"Oh no!" exclaimed Gordon.

Then, he heard another horrible sound! It was a rattle!

"Oh dear!" he cried. "I'm falling apart! What will Sir Topham Hatt say?

So Gordon slowed down.

Gordon puffed slowly into Knapford Station to collect the children.

Gordon knew if that he went slowly, that the children would miss their boat-trip, but he also knew that if he went fast, Sir Topham Hatt would hear him squeak and rattle.

He also knew that he would sure to be scrapped if Sir Topham Hatt found out.

Soon, the children were all on-board, and Gordon puffed slowly out of the station.

Gordon puffed slowly through the countryside. He thought everything was going well.

But Sir Topham Hatt was not impressed.

"Hurry along Gordon!" he boomed. "We need to get there on time! Hustle! Go faster!"

"Yes sir." said Gordon nervously.

"You are the fastest engine on Sodor!" added in Sir Topham Hatt.

This made Gordon feel grand.

"This might be my last trip, but I will get the children to their boat on time!"

So Gordon went even faster.

"I must be on time, I must be on time!" he puffed.

Soon, he began to squeak and rattle again!

Then, he heard a rolling noise!

But Gordon didn't care. He was determined to get the children there on time!

At last, Gordon arrived at Brendam Docks.

Salty and Henry were surprised.

So was Diesel.

"Sounds like another worn-out Steamie!" oiled Diesel.

But Gordon didn't care. He had made record time, and the children would catch their boat!

"I made it!" he exclaimed.

"Thank you Gordon!" shouted the happy children.

"I knew you could do it Gordon!" said Sir Topham Hatt. "I know you are in need of repairs, so I am sending you to the Works to be repaired!"

"So I'm not getting scrapped?" asked Gordon.

"Not at all!" boomed Sir Topham Hatt.

Gordon was the happiest engine on Sodor.

Next day, Gordon was repaired, and soon he was back at work, and wasn't making any funny noises!

Soon, Gordon was as grand as new!
