This is what happens when I am extremely bored and my mind is in the gutter. Interpret this however you want, I really didn't mean for it to sound so perverted. Sorry. Let me know what you think of it. I tried to keep it in character, but failed miserably.
"Listen to this. She claims in her statement that he used to beat her if she even looked at another man." Bobby read from the paper he was holding.
"Gives the term 'jealousy' a whole new meaning." Alex shook her head in disgust.
Bobby looked across the desks at her. She was busy reading something on the laptop in front of her. Her face was intense. Whatever she was looking at, it had to be bad.
Alex could sense his eyes on her. Every time he looked at her like that, a wave of emotion washed over her. Almost like he was able to channel what he was feeling at that moment straight into her. This time, she could sense, it was curiosity; probably curious as to what she was looking at on the laptop.
"Hey come look at this." She said, gesturing Bobby over. This way she could satisfy his curiosity.
For the next five minutes, they were silent. Some of the information on the screen matched what they already had, but most of it was entirely different.
"Can I see that for a second?" Alex asked, pointing to the paper on Bobby's lap. When he didn't answer she tried again, "Bobby, hey. Can I see the printout you have there?"
Bobby looked like he had been struck. "Huh? Oh yeah, sure." Alex merely raised an eyebrow at him.
He held it out to her. When she pulled it out of his hand, he softly said "Ow." There was a tiny bit of blood coming from his pointer finger. Bobby just stared at it. It amazed Alex that he wasn't complaining about it, like most men would.
"Sorry." She grabbed a tissue from her desk drawer and handed it to him. He thanked her and wrapped it around his finger. Alex asked, "You okay?"
Bobby shrugged, "It's only a papercut." Truth was, he didn't want to admit why he was so distracted. He was studying something other than what they were supposed to be studying.
She did provide a nice distraction, though.
I'm going to go get my mind out of the gutter now. That's if I can even find it in there at all.
