I was rewatching Laryngitis and this just came to me… a random oneshot. Just because I cried when Kurt was at the window when they were watching a game on the T.V. Glee or Hot Topic or Born this Way do not belong to me.

"Hey Kurt, my nails are losing color and they're chipped a little. My hair is beginning to lose it's color and shape. My skin is becoming drier. I know you're lonely when Burt and Finn hang out. Would you like to go with me to the mall tomorrow?" Carol asked.

"Sure." Kurt said.

The next day, they had packed their bags, Kurt's, with products, his credit card and cash galore.

Carole, however, brought makeup and cash and magazines.

They hit every shop in sight, but Kurt didn't do what Carole wanted him to do until they started trying on clothes from Hot Topic. Hey, the designs were tacky, but the slogans were catchy.

"This feels nice. I guess this is what it would feel like if my mom were still alive." Kurt remarked as he put back an "I'm more stylish than you. Most people are." t-shirt.

"What was she like? Your mom, I mean." Carole asked.

"She was… pretty. My dad says I come after her. But I don't think she was chased around by bullies everyday or had a broken heart two times in a row." Kurt remarked from his spot by the skinny jeans.

"I think she was probably very strong anyways. Do you have pictures?" Carole asked.

"Yeah. In fact, I have one in my bag. It's from when we went to Disneyland when I was five." Kurt said.

Carole heard some rustling nearby and Kurt appeared from behind a rack. He handed her a photo.

"She's beautiful." Carole said.

Beautiful was an understatement. She looked very much like Kurt. She had his eyes and flowing hair. She was like the female version of Kurt.

"Thanks." Kurt said, gently taking the picture back and placing it in a pocket of the bag.

"Why do you put it in your bag? Why not in a frame by your bed or something?" Carole asked.

"When the bullying gets too bad or something like that, I look at this picture and focus hard on my mom. Then, all the bad thoughts go away and I can go on with my day." Kurt said.

"Oh." Carole said, ashamed she asked. Of course Kurt needed a place to put aside his hurt feelings. Just like every other normal human. Carole remembered when she was about five years old and she a teddy bear to tell all of her secrets, including when she didn't brush her teeth before going to bed and her mom overheard. Boy, that was a terrible moment.

"That's ok. I have my jeans and t-shirt. Shall we go get our manicure?"

Carole looked over Kurt's arm and noticed he picked out five pairs of skinny jeans (two in dark purple, one in blue, one in black, and one in red), a pair of dark blue and black striped gloves, and a t-shirt that said, "BORN THIS WAY" with a picture of Lady Gaga on it.

"Sure. Extreme package?" Carole asked. Her nails were quite chipped and dirty for no apparent reason.

"Extreme package." Kurt agreed.

As they walked out of Hot Topic, Carole felt as if she had completed her mission of getting Kurt to talk about his mom.
