Hospitals. I still don't understand how Carlisle can stand working in one of these. The scent of blood is everywhere, tempting me, mocking me. I tried holding my breath, but someone might think I was dead. I sighed heavily and gave up. Time to test my self control.

Alice, Edward, and I were in a waiting area outside of Bella's room, waiting. Everyone else were either getting something to eat or just wondering around the building.

Alice was sitting next to me on the hard plastic chair. Her eyes were closed, she was concentrating on a vision. All of a sudden she smiled and opened her beautiful amber eyes. She got up. "I'll be right back," she pecked me on the cheek and disappeared. I wanted to pursue her, but I decided to just stay and watch the room next to me, waiting for any change. Plus, I had to keep watch on Edward who had been pacing in front of the room ever since we got here, refusing to sit down.

I thought back to the events that had lead us to this place. Moving to the small wet town of Forks, meeting Edward's fragile Bella, the baseball game, the tracker, the warmth of the fire, the scent and sight of the blood...

"Jazz? Is something wrong?"

I looked up and grinned, "No, nothing's wrong..." I glanced at my brother who was pacing for two hours straight now. Impatience was spreading through the whole room, making it harder for me to calm everyone down. Myself included. "Where were you?"

"Well," Alice sat beside me, "I saw something a couple of minutes ago..."

Suddenly Edward stopped pacing and appeared right in front of Alice and I. "What?"

Alice placed her finger to her lips, "Not telling, or thinking. But feel free to listen to seventies music in my head."

Edward sighed and sat down beside her, tapping his foot. Annoyed.

"Alice, you really shouldn't do that." I scolded her, but she just laughed. I smiled at her laugh, it was like the sound of windchimes in a gentle breeze.

"Don't worry Jazz," Alice whispered to me, "it's better as a surprise."

Alice was feeling quite excited, which was strange considering the situation we were in. Bella was mangled and bitten by a sadistic vampire, Edward saved her but almost killed her in the process. How could Alice be happy now? Unless...

Right on cue we heard a faint, tired voice. "Edward, Edward, my Edward..." Then there was a faint yawn.

We all froze. Edward and I peered into the room and saw her smiling in her sleep. I felt relief not just from myself, but from everyone except my wife. I chuckled, "Dear, did you see this happen?"

"Yep," she giggled, "pretty good surprise, don't you think?"

I felt Edward's happiness as he stepped into Bella's room. "Yes, yes I do."

A/N: Do you like it or do you hate it? In other words, REVIEW!!! Please? Thanks!
