He looked into those eyes, and felt fear.

Black, insidious claw reached forwards to their prey, groping, twitching. She had tried to lure him close with pretty words, whispers of a shadow of passion that only her mind would know. The Black symbol shone upon her breast, warning the guardian of Yellow that this indeed was not the woman he had once loved. No, this was not Arin Surr.

She had been a lovely creature in life. Her violet eyes were as entrancing as a sunset, crimson skin that was smooth like fine wine. Her laughter filled his heart during the Greener times, often allowing him to quell the anger that brewed beneath the stoic surface. She was his secret, his heart…and when she had perished, so had it.

"Come closer my love, it has been so long since we last touched."

Her words were so mocking, laced with an obvious ulterior. Sinestro sneered at the thing before him, repulsed by the husk of the thing he had allowed himself to once love. Love…the emotion was so weak when he viewed it in hindsight. Everything within the Spectrum was weak…but fear. Fear consumes all, banishes all within itself. Fear was the ultimate Weapon.

And yet…he could feel it creep closer into his soul every second. Every time he saw those violet eyes stare out of a new, younger bearer….every time he heard something akin to Arin's voice within the girl who wielded Green…

Soranik…..

The information had come as a surprise at first, but logic was ever present within his mind. Sinestro could now see the resemblance, and it angered him. How dare this one take the name of 'Natu', forsaking her mother's heritage! How dare she endow herself with the abominable Emerald instead of the fearful Yellow as her father? She was a walking contradiction, stooping low enough to even consort romantically with a human…and yet, genetically, she was his daughter….

Coldness had now settled within his mind, the golden amber flooding from his ring. The bile curled around his throat as the stench wafted off Arin's desiccated corpse, her countenance having drawn uncomfortably close during his mental distraction. The energy coursed through, blasting through the surprised wraith. Bits of charred flesh sprayed about the ground, the soulless body having finally silenced of its siren's call.

Sinestro spat between wet lips, his ruby brow smudged with perspiration. "You are not Arin Surr, and you will never have the privilege to touch me, vile creature…"

Raising his head to the light battle above his own, Thaal Sinestro of Korugar swallowed hard. Black Lanterns were destructible despite their strength…

Memories however….were not.
