Author's Note: Oh my goodness, this is exciting. Something other than Naruto! So, I watched V for Vedetta today, and I couldn't resist! I love them being together. This event occurs when Evey is spending time with V after her fake imprisonment. Please read and review.
Never Know by Mika Casey
Standing over a stove with a spatula in her hand, a young woman looked confusedly at the cook book before her. As she squinted and tried to make sense of the words, a voice from behind her made her jump.
"What are you doing, Evey?" A man's low monotone sounded, betraying no emotion.
As her face burned red with a blush, Evey turned around. She laid her eyes on the masked man who had cared for her for so long, the face that she had come to believe that was truly his. It wasn't the face that made the person; it was who they were on the inside.
The permanent grimace that was engraved in the plastic facade watched her. She couldn't even see his eyes in the shadows that were cast by the protruding brow line. Gulping audibly, Evey spoke. "Well, I figured I would make you breakfast, V, since you always prepare it for me..."
He laughed. But when he laughed, it was still in the same tone as he spoke. There was no way to determine what he was feeling, despite the dramatic gasps and changes in volume. "There is no need, Evey. You have already done enough for me." He promised her. "Perhaps you could go and change, and we can have ourselves a cup of tea and some eggs?"
Nodding uncertainly, Evey slowly turned towards the exit of the kitchen. Walking away, she could feel his mysterious stare penetrating the back of her head.
V, gazing at her beautiful figure as she left, felt his heart thrum against his ribcage. Bringing a hand to his breast, he let out a long breath.
She was the woman who had taught him how to love.
And she would never know.
