A/N: I don't own FMA :(

This is a different style of writing for me...I'll update a lot, and soon, just give me a review to keep going. I'm not sure yet if I like this...but its rainy and I was in a mood for a drabble :)

Enjoy!

Winry Rockwell glanced around the darkening forest on the night of her 4th birthday. The festive game of hide-and-seek with her party guests left her winning-and lost. The merry voices and music and laughter from her party were way behind her, barely audible over the sounds of the nighttime forest.

Hiding so far out didn't seem like such a good idea now.

She was hopelessly lost, running in circles with no clue how to escape the maze of trees. Thunder boomed overhead as she tried to escape. One by one, stars said hello from the dimming sky, and one by one the tears streaked down her cheeks. Winry plopped on a rock, hugged her knees to her chest, and wished for her mommy or daddy to come find her.

Suddenly there was a rustling in the bushes behind her. Winry whipped around and was face to face with her best friend, Ed.

They stared at one another for a few seconds.

Then he exploded: "Winry, you stupid girl!!!"

She began to cry again. He stepped towards her- she winced. Instead of yelling more, Ed hugged his friend.

"I was lookin' all over! I thought you might have got eaten!!! Don't cry, I've got you. I'll bring you home safe."

The four year olds grabbed hands. And even though she was still shaking, and fear of being lost hadn't left her, Winry believed Ed.

Because despite the terror she'd felt moments before, it all melted with his hug. This moment, hand in hand with Ed, was all that mattered.

Winry was safe.
