No Escape.

Zelda watched as link fell to the ground, blood pouring out of his chest. "NO!" she screamed. Zelda ran as fast as she could to the young warriors side. She put her hands on either side of his face. She whispered, "Wake up Link... please wake up!" no reply. She whispered in his ear "Link, (sob) please."
Link heard Zelda's pleas and wanted to tell her that he was trying. Every time he tried to emerge from the darkness it pulled him back in. There was no escape. He tried once more and managed to open his eyes. "Ze...l...d..da." He could see her battle worn face, tear stained and etched with grief. "Oh Link. I'm so sorry!" He tried to sit up but a throb of pain circuited through his body, "AAAARG" He fell back on the ground. "Link we have to get you to some sort of hospital you're hurt so badly..." she looked at him. "Zelda, It's too late for me, but I defeated Gannadorf and that's all that matters. Now you can restore Hyrule to its rightful state and," that was about all he could say before he coughed up a mouthful of blood. "Link!" Zelda started to cry again. "Shhhh I'm.. I'm still here (cough)." He placed his hand on her cheek and pulled her face so that it was inches from his. " Zelda. I cant die without letting you know that... I... I.... I love you." his voice was firm but quavering from the tears that were slowly falling down his bloody cheeks. He crushed his lips to hers in panicky desperation. Zelda could taste the hot blood on his lips, but that didn't matter. All that mattered was that she was kissing him. She welcomed his mouth warmly and knotted her fingers through his dirty, matted hair She whispered against his lips, "I love you too."
Moments later she heard a choking sound come from him and his jaw went slack. "Link? LINK?" She clutched his broken body and sobbed into his chest. She felt a slender hand on her shoulder. "Zelda..." I cool, smooth voice said from behind her. Zelda looked over her shoulder to see Midna (in her true form) standing behind her. "He loved you Zelda. Did you know that." Zelda touched her lips feeling where his had been moments ago. "Yeah. He told me before he...he..." tears streamed down her face. "I know. I know." Whispered Midna as she pulled Zelda into a friendly hug. The two friends embraced each other and cried. Midna was the first to pull away. She walked over to Link and placed her hand on his chest. All the wounds closed up and the blood disappeared. "Is he..." "No. I don't have the power to bring people back from the dead. I just cleaned him up." Midna ran her hand down his pale cheek. "Now... (sighs) now he's at peace."
