Lying on the ground without wings to lift him up, all Castiel could think about was Dean. He thought back to the happiest moment in his life…

Dean gasped as Castiel healed his beat up face. Dean's green eyes stared into Cas' bright blue ones, and Castiel sat down on the bed beside Dean.
"Cas, I'm so sor-"
"its okay, Dean," Cas smiled and touched Dean's face with the back of his hand. Dean closed his eyes and leand into Cas' touch, grabbing his hand and holding it tight.
"Don't go," Dean says pulling Cas closer to him.
"I won't, Dean. I'm here," Castiel leans in and kisses Dean on the lips. Dean pulls back in surprise, and then lets his arms wrap around Cas and pull his head closer. They stay that way, kissing, for a few minutes then Dean pulls away. Tears fill his eyes.
"Cas, this…" Dean looks sadly into Cas' eyes "this can't work. I can't run the risk of losing you, not now,"
Cas feels tear welling up in his eyes, "It's okay, Dean we can figure this ou-"
"No," Dean interrupts "we can't, Cas" Dean grabs Cas' hands. "I don't wanna hurt you, so please make me forget,"
"What?" Cas says in shock
"Make me forget this, don't let me hurt you, please"
"No, Dean, no,"
"please?" Dean looks up at Cas with pleading eyes.
Cas pulls Dean close and kisses him again "I will always love you," he says and places two fingers on Dean's forehead. Dean falls back onto the pillows, asleep, unaware of what just happened. Castiel stands there watching Dean for a while, until disappearing with tears filling his blue eyes.

It happened again, and again, and again, every time Cas vanished remembering everything.

Now Castiel laid there on the ground, broken and battered, yet all he could think was, next time he won't forget.
