Chapter 1

Alex was angry enough that he could slam Blunt's head into a wall for all the trouble it would get him into. First pulling him out of school for three different threats all of which turned out to be nonsense, now this. As if he needed more attention. The amount of school he missed was ridiculous. Any more and he would fail his GSCE's, but of course nobody cared. Jack was in America and Tom had moved in with Jerry so he was completely alone. All he wanted was a break from all the spying stuff. But nothing can go right when Alex Rider is concerned. After his house was blown up again resulting in the fifth assassination that week, Blunt got tired. Alex was hence called to the Royal and Genral Bank for the millionth time. All these thoughts and more were running through his head when he got out of the luxury black sedan the Bank had sent. Very inconspicuos he thought as he skirted around his trouble spot. The receptionist had seen him so many times she didn't even bother to look at him. He met Crawley at the elevators. "Ahh, Alex. You're early." Alex just kept his mouth shut with a blank expression on his face. Crawley looked disappointed as he escorted Alex to Blunt's office. The door was open as always. He walked in without a second thought. These people deserved no respect for ruining his life. Blunt didn't even look up from his never ending atack of paperwork but he got a nod of acknowledgement from Mrs. Jones. " Alex. Take a seat." Blunt's voice rang through the now silent office. "No thanks, I'd rather not." replied Alex. "Sit down Alex" Mrs. Jones said as if she was scolding a child. "I'm not going on another mission." "No you are not." Blunt finally looked up, his grey emotionless eyes staring into Alex. This look had sent fully trained agents crying to their mommies. To Alex, this looked like puppy dog eyes. "You will be going to Brecon Beacons to brush up on your fitness. It will also help to keep you safe." For a moment, Alex just stared, comprehending what he had just heard. Then he exploded. "Thank you so much for being concerned about how safe I am. That never stopped you before but now it is a huge problem. What the hell do you think you are doing? Are you crazy? No wait you are. You don't own my life. You don't get to tell me what to do. I am not some tool for you to use and then throw away when not needed. I am not going anywhere." Alex knew this would'nt do anything but it felt good to get everything out, all the hate and other pent up emotions. As expected, Blunt continued as if nothing had happened. " You will be staying with K-Unit until further notice. Pack your bags, your'e leaving in an hour." Recognizing his dismissal, he walked out, wanting to punch something. He took the tube home, followed by no less than four agents. Reaching home, he made sure to pack all of Smither's gadgets. He might not see the man again but it was nice to know that he had atleast one friend in MI6. After taking enough time to irritate the agents waiting in the kitchen, he crept down the stairs making sure to make no noise. "Let's go. We're late." Everybody excluding the teenager jumped twenty feet into the air. " You are supposed to be professionals" he muttered under his breath. During the entire four hour car journey, he made sure to have as much fun as possible. The same could not be said for the other agents in the car. For them, may their souls rest in peace because they had to deal with a pissed of Alex Rider. Let's just say that there was no love lost between the two. After practically getting kicked out of the car, Alex was smirking as he made his way to the Seargent's office. He took a deep breath and knocked on the door, officially declaring his entrance into Hell on Earth.
