Sara laughed as she and Catherine chatted on the phone. She sat down on the floor and watched as her son slapped at his toys and giggled at the lights and sounds. The door opened and Sara watched as a four year old girl skipped through room and Gil slunk through. He sat down on the couch and looked utterly defeated. Sara rolled her eyes and moved out of the room.
"Sara?" Catherine asked on the phone
"Sorry Cath" Sara replied "Daddy and daughter just got home from the park"
"And?"
"Well, Celeste is happy as ever and Gil looks like someone just stomped on all of his bugs"
"Well that's slightly disturbing"
"Yea. I'm going to go talk to Celeste"
"Starting with the kid?"
"Have you tried to talk to Gil when he's in a mood? It will be easier to talk to baby girl"
"You aren't wrong. I guess I will see you guys in a couple hours."
"Bye"
Sara hung up and smiled as she walked into her daughters room. The little girl looked up from her dolls and smiled as she joined her mom on her bed.
"Hey baby" Sara said softly
"Mama" Celeste replied
"Did you have fun with daddy at the park?"
"Yes. We played a lot!"
"Why does daddy look sad?"
"Bugs are yucky. Daddy show me bugs, but they are yucky."
"Baby, you know how much daddy likes bugs."
"I a princess. No bugs."
"Ok. Well how about you lay down and rest before Aunty Catherine and Uncle Nick get here. I love you baby girl."
"Love you too mommy."
Sara smiled as her daughter snuggled down into her bed and Sara turned off the lights and turned on soothing music. She walked back to the living room and sat down next to Gil. He looked up and kissed her cheek softly before picking up his son and snuggling him close.
"Celeste told that bugs are yucky." Gil said softly
"I know. We just talked." Sara replied
"If she hates bugs, how does she feel about me?"
"Seriously?"
"Sara…"
"She is a daddy's girl Gilbert. So she doesn't like bugs right now. She is four years old Gil. She likes princesses and unicorns and glitter"
"But I'm the bug guy"
"Your also her daddy and she loves you very much. So she doesn't like bugs right now. It's a phase. And even if it isn't, you get to try again with this little bug"
"What do you say Oliver? You want to be a bug lover?"
Sara laughed as Gil tickled the little boy. She watched as Gil set him down in his playpen and snuggled back on the couch with his wife. Sara smiled and kissed him softly before they both watched Oliver fall asleep. Sara smiled as she faced Gil on the couch and kissed him long and soft.
"You're a great dad Gil. A wonderful husband." Sara said softly "Never stop believing that"
"You may have to keep reminding me" Gil replied
"My pleasure"
