Hey people, it's me again. This is a one shot I've written, based on the scene in GG book 5. For those who are interested, I'll be updating The Morgan Family Luck soon! Hope you enjoy- KM x

He's there. She can almost feel his presence, weighing down on her and clouding her thoughts.

Why isn't he here ?

He remains a cautious distance from her, except Zachary Goode has never been cautious in his life, at least not around Cameron Morgan, anyway.

Through the throbbing of her head, the now muted circus music and the general, constant fear shooting through her- What happened? What did I forget? (The worst: what did I do?)- her mind is racing, drawing conclusions for his uncharacteristic behaviour.

She hopes she is wrong on every account.

She eases forward, a dance so familiar to them his lack of response is practically blasphemous. The movements aren't suited for a solo.

She stumbles, her frail limbs failing her, and is reminded that a dance must be practiced to be perfect.

Her humiliation seems to spark enough life in him for movement, slipping forward to steady her, then withdrawing firmly. His lack of touch and warmth and welcome stings, and an icy heaviness settles into her.

An exchange of muttered and meaningless words; they part.

He's right. Everything is different now.
