Catherine smiled as she leaned in the doorway of the nursery. Nick walked slowly around the small room, no shirt and a little boy curled up and snug in his arms on his chest. She smiled as she sipped her coffee and walked into the room.

"Hey cowboy" Catherine said softly

"Hey" Nick replied

"How is my little man doing?"

"Fed, changed, and getting ready for another nap"

"Then why don't you hand him over and I will put him down while you shower"

Nick smiled as he gently kissed Catherine and handed her the baby as he took the coffee cup. He took a sip and grimaced. Catherine laughed softly as she wrapped the little boy up and started rocking him.

"How do you drink coffee that sweet?" Nick asked softly

"You know I have a serious sweet tooth" Catherine replied

"I love you"

"Love you too Nicky"

Catherine smiled as she gently rocked the little boy in her arms. She gently drew her finger over her sons nose and small little face.

"Hello baby boy" Catherine said softly "You had a good time with daddy this morning didn't you? There you go. Just close those little eyes"

Catherine smiled as the little boy yawned and fell asleep. She rocked him for a few more moments before laying him in his crib and walking to the bedroom. She picked up the baby monitor and carried it to the bathroom with her. Nick smiled as he heard Catherine join him in the shower. He turned around and smiled as Catherine kissed him long and hard.

"Hello beautiful" Nick said softly

"Thanks for getting up and making coffee this morning when you fed Alex" Catherine replied

"Just trying to make your day easier"

"Well, then I should really thank you"

Nick smiled as Catherine kissed him. An hour later both smiled as they dressed. Catherine smiled as she sat down to breakfast with Nick.

"So why are you still up?" Catherine asked as she put the food on the table. "You worked last night"

"Yea. But I want to spend time with you and Alex and I'm off tonight" Nick replied

"Nick, what happened?"

"We got the guy, he didn't even try to run, but he murdered his seven week old baby girl"

"Oh Nicky"

"I'm ok. These cases were always hard but they just get harder when I know that I have a little 10 week old baby of my own at home"

"Did they guy say why he did that?"

"Wasn't his kid, wasn't his problem"

Catherine sighed and kissed Nick long and hard. He smiled as they sat down and finished breakfast.

"Now. Daddy needs sleep. So you are going to go get some rest and I'm going to clean and take care of Alex this morning. You can be super dad this afternoon when I go shopping with Sara" Catherine said as she started to clean up

"I'm fine Cath" Nick said softly

"Nicky, don't argue with me. You won't win"

Nick rolled his eyes and kissed his wife before walking down the hall and into the bedroom. That evening Nick smiled as he held his sleeping son on the couch. The door opened and Nick stood up to greet his wife. Catherine put her bags down and leaned up to kiss him softly.

"You are spoiling him if you don't let him sleep on his own." Catherine said softly

"He just feel asleep I swear" Nick replied

"How was your afternoon?"

"Really good. Did you leave any money in our account?"

"Smartass. Yes I did. I also made a stop at a few of your favorite stores"

"Do I get to see what you bought"

"Later Nicky. Put him down and you can help me make dinner"
