A/N: Just a few quick notes, if you will.

WARNINGS: Suicidal, Minor Cussing.

私は青のエクソシストを所有していません。(I do not own Ao no Exorcist.)

Set after the episode "Temptation."

Written because I don't think there was enough conflict after the class learnt of Rin's true form.

Parings: Minor Rin and Shiemi. Possibly Shima and Izumo. No major slash!

P.S. It's depressing that there are so few Blue Exorcist stories on Fan Fiction. I'll try to provide a few.

I'm not an adult yet, so no, my writing isn't professional or anything. I think this story is okay though.

I apologize in advance if updates are slow sometimes. I'm a VERY busy person.

If you end up not liking the story for some reason, please, don't try to burn me alive with harsh reviews! Just don't read or something, I mean, good God I don't have the mental state for people I don't know hating on me! Hints the depressing story.

Please Read and Review, and I hope you enjoy my first Ao no Exorcist story!

"He Bleeds Red"

Okumura Rin turned the key, a soft click resonating through the empty dorm halls. Today Rin was expected to go to class, sit in the same room as the other Ex-Wires, and pretend that nothing has changed. If only it could be that simple, if most every teen in there didn't have a reason to hate Satan or to fear his blue flames, if things didn't have to change.

'Everything will be different,' a small voice in the back of Rin's mind echoed. Since the beginning, he knew that if the others ever learnt the truth it would mean the end of their friendship. Only that night they had told him to trust them; that he had friends he could rely on.

'I have to trust them. They promised. They called me friend.' With a usual idiotic happiness, Okumura stepped through the giant red doors and into the run-down classroom. Yukio stood at the chalkboard, already having begun the class two hours prior. Rin was ordered to remain at the dorm for a while, and was now permitted to return to class.

"Okumura-san, if you'll find a seat," Yukio said with indifference. Casually, Rin took his normal seat, but Shiemi wasn't besides him. Instead she sat in a seat other than her usual, afraid to sit next to Rin. Why? The demon boy had yet to know.

"Please take out your books and open to page…" Yukio's voice droned out as Rin warded off sleep. Nothing sent him dreaming like school did, or his little brother's voice, for that matter. Slightly nodding his head, Rin dozed off and began to purr in a quiet sleep.

In the back of the classroom, Bon scoffed at him, like usual, but this time he himself stood and strode over to Rin's desk. With an angry, swift motion he caught Rin's jaw with a left hook and sent the demon boy sprawling on the ground. Rubbing his jaw, Rin glared up at him.

"Hey, Bon! What the hell was that for?!" Rin growled out and stood angrily, coming up into Suguro's face like a raging bull.

Suguro glared daggers back. Usually, this was friendly banter, but Rin failed to see the dead serious anger in Bon's eyes. The hatred that stood solid and created tension. Rin shifted a little under the weight of the gaze, but continued to stare back.

"Okumura, Suguro, please take your seats," Yukio demanded calmly as he finished writing on the board, never once turning to face the commotion.

Before returning to his seat, Bon whispered in Rin's ear. "Before I thought that maybe you really did want to be an exorcist. But as the Son of Satan? Either you're insane, or you're just hiding behind the True Cross Academy and avoiding the death you deserve. Both ways you don't belong here, and if you ever come close to the others, my friends, then I'll cut you down and send you back to the pits of hell from which you came." They both took their seats, Rin sitting quietly in the front. For the rest of the class, no one other than Okumura-sensei spoke, all of the others trying not to let their gaze draw to Rin. Only Suguro continued to stare at him, on guard, and ready to kill the spawn of Satan at any moment. In his mind, it would be the right thing to do.

^|^ That Night in the Okumura Dorm ^|^

"Oi, Yukio! Why can't I come along? I could help you out!" Rin was, once again, trying to convince his 'kid brother' to let him go on a classified mission and was, once again, finding no luck.

"Rin, I already told you, you can't come," Yukio-san said in slight frustration. "Besides, you'd probably just ruin things like you always do."

"Hey, I do not always ruin things! There've been plenty of times that I've helped you out!" Yukio sent him a slight glare and sighed.

"I have to go Rin. Do not follow me, understand?" Rin mumbled under his breath and Yukio repeated himself. "Understand?" Rin-kun sighed and reluctantly agreed. "Good. I'll be back for class tomorrow, but otherwise, don't wait up. I'll be sleeping elsewhere. I trust you can handle one night alone in the dorm. At least, I hope you can…"

"C'mon Yukio, I'm the older brother here! Stop treatin' me like a kid!" Yukio sighed a final sigh and walked out the door, closing it behind him and leaving Rin alone in the dorms. "I'm not a kid," Rin mumbled and shuffled back to his room.

Kuro had gone who knows where, and Ukobach had been called by Mephisto because he wanted something other than cup-noodles for once. With no one around to talk to, Rin's mind began to wonder to the events of the day. Shiemi hadn't been sitting in her usual spot next to him. Everyone, for that matter, had seemed to have migrated to the back of the room and into the corner. Even Izumo had sat closer to the others than usual, though she was mostly the same, a scowl on her face and avoiding everyone's eyes. Then there was the Kyoto group…

Konekomaru was sweating and trembling, and sat kind of behind Bon, like he was using him as protection. Bon himself seemed like he was providing protection, sitting like a steel wall in front of Konekomaru and Shima. Shima kind of smiled and waved at Rin a little, but after a slight glare from Suguro and a strange, horrified look from Konekomaru he stopped and looked away. By the look on Miwa's face it was like Shima had been calling a monster to them by waving. Maybe in their mind, he was.

Bon. There was of course the time in class that Bon had come up to him. Only now, looking back on it all, did Rin notice the pure anger that was in Suguro's eyes. And his words… they felt like hatred, stabbing at his heart and now making Rin worry. When worse came to worst, would Suguro try to kill him? Despite all that he and Rin had been through together, would Bon only see the son of Satan?

"Oh crap! What am I supposed to do about them?" Rin wondered aloud, rubbing his head without a sense of direction. He yawned, his eyes watering at the corners and becoming duller and dreary. Letting his tail curl up near his face, he snuggled into his covers. He didn't feel like eating dinner, just sleeping, although he's usually fairly restless until late at night. Now he's curled up and yawns, purring in a restful sleep.

Several hours pass until the sky darkens considerably, and morning is only a short time away. Here, in the darkest hour of the night, a shadow crept down from the dark sky and crawled in the walls of the silent dorm. It slid down the hall and silently invaded the mind of its victim. In his sleep, Rin tossed for a while, dreams coming to his unconscious mind and pulling at his heart strings.

Standing in the classroom, Rin watches his brother point a gun and shoot Hobgoblins.

"Just listen Yukio… Just what did you think of me all this time?" Rin asks, just now knowing that Yukio has known for, gosh, about forever about Rin being a demon, about Satan, about all of it. 'Why didn't he tell me?'

"Think of you? That should be obvious." Yukio pauses to shoot three more lowly demons before turning to his older brother once again. "Knowing that you were a demon, I thought of you as a threat."

These words hit Rin hard, echoing within his sleeping mind. He tosses again in his sleep.

"You're an idiot, Rin. Why did you ever insist on becoming an exorcist? For Revenge? Or was that your way of trying to atone for Father's death?" Rin feels the stab of Yukio's words, his own brother blaming him for the death of their father. Rin feels useless, angry, and somewhat… guilty.

"If you really feel that way," Yukio continues, "Then you should just turn yourself in to the Knights of the True Cross…" Rin stands silently, trembling with anger and self-loathing.

In his dorm-room, Rin cries out a bit, an aching feeling consuming his chest. The dark shadow hovers around him like a black curtain of despair. Down by the front porch, Yukio opens the door and enters the silent dorm. After completing the mission, Yukio had sleeping arrangements, but worry for his older, yet less mature, brother drove him to walk across the town this late at night and return to his usual room. As he opened the door and stepped inside, he was met with a cool breeze that chilled his bones. 'Something's not right,' he thought, and rushed into the dorm, throwing his things aside and heading for the stairs.

In Rin's dream, Yukio continued to stand before him, aiming his gun directly at Rin's chest. "You should just turn yourself in to the Knights of the True Cross… or better yet, die." A shot was heard, fired from Yukio's gun and Rin screamed as a searing pain erupted within his chest and soul.

"Nii-san!" Yukio called loudly, his brother finally opening his eyes, teary and confused. Yukio sighed in relief as his older brother rose shakily from the bed and shook his head.

"Yukio? What happened?" Rin ran his hand through his hair and held tightly.

"I came back because I had a bad feeling about leaving you alone. As usual, I was right. There was a demon here, toying with your mind. I shot it, but it evaporated before I had the chance to exorcise it. Are you alright? What did you see?" Rin shook his head once again to try and clear it. He remembered all of it, the whole thing. It was completely real, all memories of true events.

"You… You shot me," Rin whispered, avoiding Yukio's eyes. Only because the dorm was completely empty, Yukio brought his brother into a quick hug.

"I didn't Rin." His older brother pulled away harshly, anger in his eyes.

"But you could, couldn't you? You've pointed those guns at me before, and if you were ever ordered to, you would kill me, wouldn't you?" Yukio gave no reply. Instead, he stood, crossed the room, and pulled on his covers.

"Try to get some real sleep," Yukio said before laying down. Rin sat there for the rest of the night, on until it was time for class and walked tiredly out the door, forgetting his lunch and not caring to tuck his shirt in, or to say goodbye to his brother. He faked a smile and casually greeted the other classmates, covering any feeling of sadness behind pearly fanged teeth and closed eyes.
