Summary: What happens when River makes a mistake in one of her experiments?

"It was an experiment," she said in confusion. "But there must be a mistake."

"Gorram, Crazy," he muttered roughly. "What experiment?"

"To see if this child is now a woman."

"You figure that by kissing me?"

"To determine whether she can make him want her," she replied matter-of-factly. "In the same way as Simon wants his Kaylee."

"And the mistake?"

She blushed. "She did not factor in her wants."

He stared darkly. She felt herself go warmer inside.

"A woman knows what she wants," he goaded. "Do you?"

River decided she was a woman now. Jayne had made her one.
