Kasamatsu looked around at his team.
"Where's Kise?" He demanded. When no one was able to answer, he ran off to look for him.
As he exited the court, he saw Kise leaning against a wall. Walking up to him, the captain studied his face.
"It's okay to let it out." Ksasmatsu said. Kise squeezed his eyes shut.
"I really wanted to win this time. I thought that I could do it." Kise blurted out. Tears streamed down his face.
Kasamatsu didn't say anything as Kise vented.
"I practiced so hard. I was able to complete Perfect Copy. And yet..."
His senpai placed his hands on Kise's shoulders.
"Remeber what I told you? It's the captain's job to take the lost." Kasamatsu paused, looking at Kise. "It's also the senpai's job to watch out for their kouhai."
"I'm your senpai; your captain. I'll shoulder the burden of loss. I'll be your support. Everyone wants to win. Do not beat yourself up over this. You have unlimited potential, Kise. You can do it; you can surpass Kagami and Kuruko. And I will be there when that happens. Because it will."
"So focus, and pick yourself up. We may have lost this time, but there still is a future. Kaijou will win next year. So don't shatter and lose hope. I'll keep you together. As your captain, your senpai, and most of all, your friend."
Kise took a shaky breath. Standing up straight, he looked at Kasamatsu.
"Thank you"
