Together Forever

A/N: Challenge given by my sister. Has to be: 550- words. Prompts: Water balloon fight, "You have blue furry slippers.", Fish. Pairing: Lily/Regulus.

DISCLAIMER: I don't own the characters. Ho hum, I'll survive.

"You're my Lilyflower."

Shut up, Potter. If only you knew. I'm not yours. My heart belongs to another. But we're not an "out" couple, so to speak. Well, we can't be, him being a pureblood and me being a Muggleborn.

He's the only Slytherin who's never called me "Mudblood", even when keeping up pretences in front of the others. He's the only guy who's ever really loved me. He's the only Black who doesn't infuriate me beyond belief all the time.

He's my Regulus.

And you, Potter, are not worthy to call me "My Lilyflower". Sorry. Actually – no, I'm not.

Water balloons. What an invention. Ridiculous, the way my brother and his friends are using them to "fight" with. Sometimes I wonder if he's really a Black. Then again, I'm not really a Black, am I? Dating Lily Evans, of all people.

She's just so perfect, so beautiful. She's mine. I don't care that she's a Muggleborn – a "Mudblood." There's no mud in her blood.

I love her. She's fierce and wonderful, and so cute when she's angry. Especially when she's angry at James Potter. He deserves it, throwing water balloons at Lily like that. He really should know better.

"You have blue furry slippers." Always the note of surprise, Potter. Yes, I do have blue furry slippers. Regulus brought them for me. He knows my favourite colour's blue and that I love to have comfy feet. Whereas you know nothing about me. Understand? That is why I'm dating Regulus and not you.

Lily Black. I whisper the name to myself, breathe on the window and trace the letters out before erasing it quickly. No-one can know. Not just for my sake, for his too. No-one would understand how we feel. A Slytherin pureblood and a Gryffindor Muggleborn, in love?

She has the most beautiful smile in the world. She can make any words, any sentence, sound like music. Even when she's ranting about James Potter, or talking, for some reason I'm not quite sure of, about fish. That's my Lily, though. Crazy, wild, and free. Potter would only rein her in, and he has been trying to for a while now.

It's never going to work, Potter. I love her. More than you'll ever understand, more than Remus and Sirius love each other – yes, I know about that. That's the real reason he was disowned – he loves a boy.

We've discussed marriage, kids, a future together. Eloping, running away together and leaving everyone behind. There's nothing here for either of us to stay for now, is there? Friends? Neither of us have any true friends. Family? Both of us despise our families, especially our siblings. School? Once we've left, there is no more school, no more Hogwarts, and our true home will be gone. Yes, we could take up teaching jobs here – but neither of us are thrilled by the idea. So, we're leaving, and nothing can stop us. No-one. We're going to run away, and be happy together.

A/N: For those confused (-cough-sister-cough-) the last few bits portray Regulus' death, Lily settling for James and feeling that the only good thing that came out of it was Harry, her knowing that Regulus wasn't evil, and then her death, with her final two thoughts, followed by Regulus and Lily being together after death.

My imagination lives on reviews. Feed it.
