Note: So after this latest episode, evil!Kirby or no evil!Kirby I had to write this, set in the near future. Just a cute little one-shot about Donnie defending his eternal love for April. And Shredder and the Kraang makes me squee. I don't know if anyone remembers, but I vaguely recall the Shredder and Kraang banter from the 80s. The good ol' days. I miss the cheesyness of the original Shredder and Kraang.

Donnie Has "it" Bad.

Donnie should have expected that Mikey would be the one to spill the beans to the father of the love of his life. He really should have foreseen it.
"Heyyyy you know," Mikey was saying, draping his arm over the shoulder of Kirby O'Neil as if he was going to reveal something incredibly important. "Donnie has it bad for April. Really bad. Like atomic bad. Raph thinks it's adorable." Mikey nodded along with his words as he was saying them, confirming the validity of his facts.
No. Nonononononononono no! Donatello's mind cried out desperately when he heard it. He dropped the t-phone in his hand that he was tinkering with, his hands started trembling. Mikey was not just demeaning the relationship with the love of his life like that. His devotion to April was pure. Purer than the purest platinum. Untainted... and there Mikey was tainting it up by calling his love "it". Whatever "it" was, "it" was not how he felt for April. "It" sounded like some dirty longing, not plans to be whatever she wanted him to be for the rest of his existence. He didn't have "it". He just knew that April was the one, that was all.
"Sadorable," Raph corrected from the corner not even looking up from his magazine.
Donnie got up from his place kneeling in front of the coffee table and grabbed Mikey by the shell, pulling him off of his future father-in-la... errr... Doctor O'Neil.
"It's not an 'it'. I'd do anything for her, Mr. O'Neil. Uh, sir?" What should he call him in this situation? "I mean, I just.. I want her to be happy and when she smiles..."
Donnie went into his dreamland of April smiling in slow motion momentarily, eyes hazing over. He sighed. She was so beautiful. "I just really, really, really think she's special and you know, she deserves..." he was babbling. He knew it.
He was completely over his head here. And he'd heard it so many times and Mr O'Neil was probably thinking the same as everyone else. April would never see him that way, he had no chance of having anything real with her... but until she said it to him herself he wasn't going to give up. They were meant to be together. They just had to be.
"It's just not... like that," Donnie finished dismally, casting his eyes to the floor.
The older man's eyes crinkled at the sides. "It's okay, I understand what you're trying to say."
Donnie could tell when someone was trying to humor him, but at least that was better than open scoffing. He'd take that.
"Oh there you are Doctor Kirby."
Donatello swiveled his head to the sound of Master Splinter coming up behind him.
"I was hoping to find you," his father was telling April's father but he wasn't ready for what came next. "Did you hear that Donnie has it bad for your daughter?"
Donnie's mouth dropped open. "Sensei!" He was mortified.
Splinter chuckled and patted his son on the shoulder as he went by. "It's not a secret Donatello. Even Kirby knows."
Okay, fine. He had "it". But it wasn't a bad thing.
...
To Close: Donnie better get the girl in the end, for realz. I need a bit more motivation to write my other stories, but meh. Whatever.
