[ I do not own YJ. This is my thing for 'The Sugar Sweet Challenge' for Grim Lullaby. There is no PAIRINGS in this…but if you want to somehow make a pairing in your head…and read it…Then fine by me…XD. Hope this one is okay. Another short little one-shot. I think I'll eventually do a long for anyone whose interested…*coughs*]
"Welcome Aqua-lad," the base computer announced as Kaldur came in. He'd been away on a brief mission of his own. Wally, aka Kidflash, sprinted around him, looping an arm around his shoulders with a sly smile.
"Hey~ Kaldur…You got something for me?" Wally demanded, eyeing the small brown paper bag in Kaldur's hands. "hunh~"
"I do not," Kaldur replied with his calm demeanor. He headed off from Wally, headed for the commons. He could smell M'gann's baking. Cinnamon cookies. Maybe? A brief rush of air and the paper bag was gone from his webbed fingers. Wally stood triumph on the opposite side of the couch that Robin and Conner (aka Superboy) sat watching the cooking channel.
"Oh~" Wally said shaking the bag, making its contents jiggle. "Whatcha got?"
"It is not for you Wally," Kaldur insisted.
"Wally," Robin said shaking his head. They were in civilian clothing. "Give it back." Wally made a face, grumbled but tossed it back to Kaldur. He caught it before gingerly opening it to reveal his prize. One of those giant rainbow swirl lollipops. "nice…"
"Aw man~ Can I have a lick?" Wally demanded, hands on his hips. Kaldur unwrapped his lollipop, seeming to debate it before shaking his head no and licking it himself. "I'm going to see if M'gann needs help eating her cookies!" The speedster vanished.
"…I think I'll go help…Cinnamon after all," Robin said, sly grin on his face as he left. Kaldur sat down in Robin's evacuated chair, giving his lollipop another lick. He'd come to crave lollipop's ever since his first one, given to him by his own King as a treat for good behavior when he was younger. He noticed Conner staring at it with fascination.
"What is that?" Conner asked. Kaldur offered the lollipop towards him.
"It's a lollipop," Kaldur told him. "You may try it." Conner seemed confused and Kaldur had to fight the temptation to laugh at his friend. He did not blame him. Conner was still 'experiencing' things. "Let me demonstrate…You hold it…and just lick it." He did as he said. "Like so…" he offered it again to Conner. The dark-haired boy accepted it gingerly this time but didn't lick it.
"I'm…not sure about this," Conner said.
"Just lick it," Kaldur ordered gently but firmly. Conner stuck his tongue out and quickly licked the lollipop's surface. His expression changed instantly to wonder and his next lick was slower. "it's good right?"
"Agreed," Conner said handing it back to him. Kaldur licked it a few times before passing it back to Conner who eagerly accepted it. This went on for a while, both boys enjoying the lollipop. Wally came back in, cramming cookies into his mouth. He stopped, wide-eyed…staring at the sight of Kaldur holding the lollipop and Conner's tongue on it.
"DUDE!" he shouted, cookie crumbs spraying out of his mouth. He pointed at the two who looked instantly guilty. "…You…You'll SHARE WITH HIM BUT NOT WITH ME?"
"Wally, Conner's never had a lollipop before," Robin said from behind Wally. He had two cookies in his hand. "Kaldur's building a friendship by sharing his favorite treat with him." Robin walked past a stunned Wally, and to the pair on the couch. He took the lollipop from Kaldur, gave it a quick lick and handed it back.
"What-but-you-I-" Wally started stammering at a loss for words.
"Well Wally…sometimes…you've got to 'just lick it'," Robin said patting Wally's shoulder as he passed. He munched on one of the cookies as he went. Mmm…cinnamon…with a slight aftertaste of lollipop.
